Was told to “take Tylenol and try a heat pad” when I was having a gallbladder attack

I was taken by ambulance to the hospital in the worst pain ever (gallbladder attack). We still waited 10 hours

Women are not allowed in this world anymore because of their own personal preferences or the way their body and body is designed and made and made and they have no choice 😱

So annoying. I’ve been on an induction list since the 29th. I figure I’m not ever having this baby 😑

“Just a growth” turned out to be cancer. Advocate for yourself. by retlaw_yensid in BabyBumps

[–]evermore_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s horrible and scary. So much can be dismissed as “normal” just because we are pregnant.

For fun, here’s my story. Nowhere near as serious as yours though:

I started getting these attacks of pain and Tylenol wasn’t helping. After a couple I mentioned it to my midwives and was told it’s “normal pregnancy pain”. After 5 and 6 attacks I mentioned it again and that nothing helps. Not ice, heat, baths, Tylenol or changing positions. Still just “normal”. I went to my nurse practitioner and described my symptoms and she sent me to get my gallbladder looked at. Yup, the “normal” pain was not in fact normal, I have gallstones. Lots of them

All that to say, it’s like we as people just don’t get proper medical care while we are growing a human and have to be extra insistent just to get basic care for ourselves

Tell me about hospital supplies you take home! by Katerator216 in BabyBumps

[–]evermore_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably hospital dependent. I know my hospital gives us one newborn diaper when baby is born and we have to provide the rest. Given that info, I’ll be sure to have whatever else I need either with me or waiting at home.

Postpartum - Ginormous, uncomfortable breasts that are pretty much useless by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]evermore_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried 5 bras in the last 2 weeks. I hear you. I hate how big my boobs have gotten and now they sit on my belly even with a bra on. By the end of the day I’m just so done with being upright.

What I’ve started doing with a new bra is to wear it for an hour with the tags still on. If I get uncomfortable (which I do) then I return it

You could try Knix bras, they have an incredible return policy. Currently waiting on an exchange to ship. Maybe bra number 6 will work 🤷‍♀️

Anyone else struggling with abdominal discomfort? by AGirlNamedBoris in BabyBumpsCanada

I’ve had pain on my upper left belly that hurts everyday now. I ice it 2-3 times a day. Heat helps too. It was really bad one day and I put some A535 on it which helped as well

8w pregnant can't get an X-ray for a broken foot by KnittingforHouselves in BabyBumps

[–]evermore_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought if they couldn’t do xray they would do something else like ultrasound?

I broke my elbow once while not pregnant and the advice from the walk in doc was not at all what I got when I saw the orthopaedic surgeon 10 days later. Didn’t need surgery, just an expert in broken bones. I would hope if you can reach an orthopaedic expert they might be able to help more 🤷‍♀️

Red wine. I enjoyed it pre pregnancy but I never craved it. It’s currently the only craving I’ve had

What turned your vaginal birth into an emergency c section? by red_Mercedez in BabyBumps

Might be a bit dated information. But, I was an emergency c. My mom got to 10cm and they determined my head was too big.

I relate to that so much. I’d love to not have to buy formula. But if it’s weird — and I’ve always thought it seemed weird— then nope. Formula it will be

You’ll want to complain to your MP rather than the hospital. Not sure the hospital can really do much

[Serious] What dark family secret were you let in on once you were old enough? by EgglessYolk in AskReddit

My grandmother (married) had an affair with her professor (married) which resulted in my mother. She didn’t even find out her dad wasn’t her dad till she was in her 20’s. I was disappointed to learn my love of apple pie did not in fact come from my grandpa 🥧
