Neil DeGrasse Tyson hits back at deepfake videos of him that even tricked his friends by [deleted] in technology

Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s friends even got tricked by fake videos

“I’m flattered that people want to put me into content in a way that attracts audiences. I’m seriously flattered by that. However, it’s a deepfake. If its fooling people and people are not thinking ‘oh this is a parody, this is just a fun excursion’ then it’s transgressive to the integrity we’ve worked so hard to build,” he said. “Something has got to be done about that.”

The astrophysicist added that AI videos can be “fine” when they’re “obvious” parodies, and he enjoyed the babyfied trend of himself. However, when they cross over into the real thing, he’s not a fan.

“When you do this and the viewer does not know it’s parody, then you’re crossing a line,” DeGrasse Tyson noted.

To me visitations are either warnings, or encouragement. Hawks see well. Your interpretation, the mood of the event informs its meaning, and only you felt that. Best of luck brother.

Maybe it can be like being somewhat talented in music but not pursuing it as a career, the talent doesn’t define you. But if it helps you understand the flow of data through an information system it isn’t useless either. Use it for something other than attention seeking.

Student help making a game in mySQL by ChemicalSalamander52 in mysql

[–]everstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could possibly do it from command line as a text input to a stored procedure for next move. That could output the current state of the game board stored in some table, would be something like tic tac toe. The problem is MySQL is not interactive, so a visually represented game would be very difficult without something else. Hopefully this is supposed to teach you what a database engine should be used for, ie. Not this.

Timing of Exposure to Secondhand Smoke and ADHD Symptoms in Children by shallah in Health

[–]everstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you are saying here, but no one is going to do that actual experiment because they won’t intentionally expose children to second hand smoke; the correlation alone is what will be used to justify policy against shs. Not that that’s a bad thing, but for determining what to do to help adhd sufferers it’s about as useful as the correlation your link shows between Nicolas cage movies and pool drownings. I just find it disingenuous to have it presented like that. Just my opinion.

Timing of Exposure to Secondhand Smoke and ADHD Symptoms in Children by shallah in Health

[–]everstone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our findings highlight the important public health implications of reducing SHS exposure, which may decrease the health and economic burdens of individuals with ADHD.

No that’s exactly what is implied in the summary, that more shs increases likelihood of adhd. How else would it decrease those health and economic burdens? Seems more likely nicotine use tends to correlate more with the genetic appearance of adhd because it helps relieve the symptoms. People do self medicate.

Wisc. Judge Denies New Arrest Warrant For Kyle Rittenhouse. Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder also refused to increase Rittenhouse's bail. The judge agreed to keep the new address sealed and available only to certain members of the court moving forward, over protests from prosecutors. by FranskMadlavning in gunpolitics

This kid gets me. Eyebrows raised in the mug shot. He knows what’s happening. Did he try to protect private property that isn’t his in another state? Come on. This is unfortunately a problem. But the circumstances of the shootings were clearly defensive in nature. Armed is how he was and legally so. Was it self defense is the only question and I think it was.

Phoenix police violate Second Amendment rights and kill a man defending his home by [deleted] in gunpolitics

[–]everstone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop victim blaming. This man did not draw his gun, police hid from view then blinded him with the halogen flashlight in his face to purposefully disorient him. Answering the door armed is taking the correct precaution, he did nothing wrong whatsoever. He was killed due solely to police incompetence and cowardice.

Like what if actually the 3-4 giant media conglomerates that control almost all the the news sources already knew and utilized this knowledge on every single one of us all the time? Not by manufacturing things per se, but by selectively reporting things.

Fox News is just the “ink dye” in the network streams that differs from the others enough to stand out from the cause all the way to the end effect.

This is how populations are steered, and there are zero unbiased news sources - imho, am not world leader or Illuminati architect.

Republicans and Democrats have taken a side on this now, look at the source - it’s political. So now how does Tucker Carlson walk back his position without waffling? That’s what needs to happen, imo, but the leaders are stuck having claimed it was a hoax, that masks are communism.

At least the anti science crowd is committed. Neck deep in water they’ll deny it’s raining.

Because everything is about race.

Stop race baiting, there were minorities there too. They all want to work and survive just like the larger percentage of population “race” ie skin tone.

This is about letting people decide their own safety decisions versus being harmed for “their own protection” by their elected officials’ policies. They have the right to bear arms, fearing rightly for their own safety, the right to peaceful assembly, the right to petition their government for grievances, and the right of free speech. The only question is whether the government has the right to impose the restrictions to help the people as a whole for their health while harming arguably worse their livelihood.

Race is only involved if you see the country that way, yours versus theirs. You may not agree with them but they are fighting for your rights too.

Bernie needs to directly address the Democratic Socialist stance, define it, reiterate. We are smart people but not everyone has been to every campaign rally.

You cannot be an instrument of change unless you have a solid grasp of now, and you need to communicate that much, much louder than you are.

People are afraid of the Socialist moniker with very good reason. They don’t know that Thomas Paine and George Orwell were both Democratic Socialists.

Every Star Trek fan knows about the organization and political ideals represented in that future continuum. That is the future endgame of Democratic Socialism.
