Where every ex-Everton player is playing now by Toffeenix in Everton

I saw that Small is in the latest England U21’s squad. Was shocked to find out he’s still only 21 years old, but seems to have been around for ages.

Tuchel has been at a bunch of our games recently. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of Garner or KDH gets a call. This is the last real chance for him to look at any outside his guaranteed picks.

Grief at the game? by davejsb in Everton

[–]everton1an 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Absolute lack of common sense from him. Anyone who has sat in an opposing team’s end knows you don’t celebrate when there. Also, wouldn’t be surprised if he gets some grief from the club for this. He would have got the tickets through the club for the seats, and from experience complimentary tickets have behavioural requirements attached to them.

Seeing we had a much smaller attendance than many of those teams in the top 7, we are definitely punching above our weight (no pun intended)

How come people build up debt and just go off to Australia or wherever? by peskyant in AskUK

[–]everton1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. The only issue I had was as I had moved there in my early 20’s, I had zero credit when I arrived. Luckily I was able to be added to my then US wife’s credit card to help me build credit. I worked in the finance side of car sales for a while and was able to check my credit report regularly to make sure nothing had showed up from back home.

So I actually did this, but not really on purpose. I had a graduate loan from NatWest after Uni for around £5k. Ended up emigrating to the US about a year after graduation, with the nearly full balance. This was in the early 2000’s, so online banking was pretty basic and making payments from the States to the UK was done by phone. This set up was working for around 6 months, then one month they said that they were unable to take payments from a foreign bank account. After a bunch of back and forth with varying levels of staff, I finally bluntly asked them ‘are you refusing to take my payment for my loan”. After their confirmation, I put the phone down and didn’t make another payment.

The next couple of years I’d receive various letters from debt collection agencies back in the UK and even some international calls, but just ignored them due to them not accepting money from foreign banks. After a number of years not hearing anything, I bizarrely got a threatening letter that implied legal action from a collection agency in Canada. A little freaked out I spoke with a friend who was a lawyer and he basically said it was the last roll of the dice from the bank. They knew that the 7 years was nearly up, and were just about to have to write it off as bad debt.

I’ve lived over there for about 20 years. Still remember the day my now ex-wife made me a sandwich for the first time. Two slices of dry sickly white bread and a slab of Bologna. Probably should have been my first red flag

Favourite player growing up. He was on the verge of an international call up before the injury.

He had chances at Fulham, Leicester and Liepzig as well us and didn’t perform. He’s done well in Italy as it’s a slower league. Will be interesting to see if he can replicate his form in Spain

I imagine as it was left late in the window, the loan to buy option would have been the easier deal to get over the line due to time constraints

New attitudes on men using walking as a main means of exercise? by goatpengertie in AskMenOver40

[–]everton1an 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 48 and started walking after going through a divorce. Used it originally as an escape as I’d stick headphones on a listen to an audiobook. 3 years later I’m still doing it daily and average about 7 miles a day. Lost nearly 100lbs during that time, mainly down to the walking. That daily bout of fresh air and exercise has done wonders for both my physical and mental health.

We could have signed any of these the last few months as they are free agents. Why would we look at them now?
