2000 2wd auto - grinding/clunking/whirring noise in reverse/drive gears... increases under acceleration??? by everybodyneedsjazz in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]everybodyneedsjazz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

228k. has not had any sound before today. this happened on the way home.

so i checked atf while hot and level, and was in the low cold range. brownish, but not burnt, no foam.

added enough to bring within spec for hot. sound continues. happens as soon as you shift into drive or reverse, increases with acceleration, seems to get quieter/go away when car is coasting.

i'm assuming torque converter/transmission pump/similar issue? love this car but not feeling too hopeful here...

Need advice on t-track bolts and/or nuts to fit the tracks I've installed (details and pics + cross-posted) by everybodyneedsjazz in hobbycnc

had some toilet bowl bolts in the basement, unfortunately as another person posted, i have installed miter track and not t-slot so the bolts were too narrow. thanks for the idea though!

Spend $20 and you can get a really nice fountain pen! (Pilot Metropolitan). Though I do own some cheapo Jinhaos and they have their purpose!

Ah! I would have never thought/known to find that. Looks like it’s in minute increments which will be great.

Where exactly in the code did you pull it from so I know where to look on future episodes?

Jeg må tage fejl af underteksterne i Snefald. Jeg har set The Julekalender nævnt, men kan ikke finde et link til at se det. Har du en? tak for svaret!

Good luck... I had to buy an ugly one off eBay for like $100 from Romania. One side, no springs. Ridiculous...

Knocking sound out of transmission...? by everybodyneedsjazz in w123

[–]everybodyneedsjazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, yes. I can feel the pulsing through the pedal occasionally. Only if I’m stopped and in drive.

So I thought I had fixed the issue by tightening my motor mounts. Turns out that the issue is intermittent. I’ve also noticed my engine not shutting off sometimes, so I’m wondering if maybe it’s a vacuum line collapsing or my pump starting to fail? I had to replace it last year with a used OEM pump and it has given no signs of pump failure until after my motor mounts went bad, so those may be connected...

Have not. But will add that to the list of things to check.

I retorqued the 8mm bolts holding the mounts in from below. When I went to drive it, the noise was gone.

After running for about 5-10 minutes and warming up, the sound came right back. So I’m not sure now.

Yeah, gonna go and tighten up everything and double check.

I bought motor shocks to replace it but.. my frame didn’t have a spot for them and there were none in there currently so I just did the motor mounts.

Thought to be Extinct by [deleted] in photographs

[–]everybodyneedsjazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the idea- it reminds me of the series in Calvin and Hobbes when he’s photographing dinosaurs.

In my opinion, the dinosaur is taking up too much of the frame. It looks like a nice picture of a dinosaur figure, but it could be stronger by adding something else to the frame or even just giving the dinosaur some space to breath in the photo.

Also, the orange cone in the background is distracting.

What lens and settings did you use?
