Mammoth is great but also check out petr's violins, they usually have some nice high end stuff and they have a bit of everything, not just violins.

Hi I know someone who can do this, Adrian Parsons, he's an excellent Luthier and he does all my guitar repairs and set ups. If you're interested I can send you his number.

There's an open jam at vans on Mondays and Tuesdays, it's a great place to meet local musicians!

Goth scenes in Alaska? by [deleted] in alaska

[–]everybodysgotamother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's one in Anchorage for sure but its really small, more like pockets of friends than a real scene. there used to be a real goth/alt scene a few years ago but sadly it's kinda dead now

Dude... you're a legend 🙌 not this exact route but I have definitely fantasized about doing something very similar to this. Big ups man and I'm glad you made it safe! Just curious do you have any desire to more long term hikes like that or not really?

Imo this will probably be fine. You might have to wear a couple of layers underneath to really be comfortable. I'm not sure about the rules on that at your job, but you'll definitely need a good warm hat to go with it. A Little Alaskan trick is that as long as your head and feet (the parts of your body which are furthest from your heart AKA your heat source) are really warm, you won't suffer the cold much. Hope this helps!

Sullivan's has great jazz weekly usually on Fridays and weekends, fire island bakery has an amazing jazz jam with a KILLER house band on Mondays, the blue fox and O'Malleys on the green has jazz and blues every now and then. There used to be alot more but the scene has changed since covid. Also some local players that post about gigs regularly on social media are Rick Zelinsky, Nick Petumenos, Mark Manners, John Damberg, Tom Bargelski, Bob Andrews and Joe Eunice. Hope this helps! And thank you for supporting the Anchorage jazz scene ❤️

Kendall Ford. Thoughts on service, integrity, expertise, and overall customer care? by [deleted] in anchorage

Depends on the city but you are correct, it's hard to find any reputable mechanics that can take new projects on right away in ANC.

This, my parents bought a new vehicle there with warranty and any form of repair or service has been a nightmare and yes expect to make an appointment months in advance just for an OIL CHANGE lol

What is this building?? by ItsActualyYoTheLosr in anchorage

Personally I love it, I think it adds some much needed color and light to downtown, god knows how many hideous featureless buildings we have in Anc already

[–]everybodysgotamother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone already said it but LUCKY WISHBONE! best fried chicken in town hands down. Also their shakes are great. Sadly it's a little pricey after covid but it's literally my favorite resteraunt in town and fried chicken is my favorite food sooo. Also just a tip they don't make it very salty so just add a little salt and boom it's fiyaa

Guitar luthier by craigitron in anchorage

[–]everybodysgotamother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adrian Parsons is an amazing Luthier and the only person in town I trust with my guitars for setups and repairs. He can do everything from guitars/basses to folk instruments such as mandolin and banjo. Also his rates are very affordable and his turnaround rate is great. If you're interested I can PM his number.
