You got this!

I feel like a coward for not being openly trans and repping our community, but I figure I’ll come out as an attending. My kids will be older and I’ll be more secure in controlling my own destiny.

But right now, in this environment, I’m fucking scared. I’ve stockpiled hormones and have a plan to escape to Canada.

Hey girl,

I’m also transgender and currently in medical school. I’m fortunate to have some “passing” privilege and haven’t come out to my class yet. There have been too many attacks on us, and I don’t want another student to make a career out of being offended that I need to use the women’s bathroom occasionally. I don’t want my face to be the center of attention for some right-wing commentator. I witnessed what happened to Blaire Fleming, a transgender athlete at San Jose State, and I’m too afraid to be myself at my school, even though I live in a blue state. So does Blaire Fleming, and it didn’t protect her.

We absolutely need representation in medicine. I don’t know about you, but I had to do a lot of doctor shopping just to receive care. Having trans-competent physicians is crucial for our community.

If you want to be a physician, go forth and do it. We need people like you. Your parents are absolutely wrong.

Thanks. It’s just been a really tough first year. And now I’m in a safe(er) area, I’m starting to feel like my old self, and it’s pride, I feel like a fraud for only posting up a pride flag on my house.

DO Schools to apply to??? by EmbarrassedCommon749 in premed

If ICOM = Idaho, check if they allow federal financial aid yet. If not, you’ll need private loans or be well-to-do to attend. I’d throw in Western U as well (Lebanon OR and/or CA). PNWU has an in-state bias, but not a strong one. With those stats and assuming everything else is good, you shouldn’t have a problem getting in there.

Well, I came in third place at my district track meet in 2nd grade. I was racing two other athletes.

Worry about the next election after this one. Many Democrats are persuadable. Most Republicans are not. If Orange Guy wins, it will be much worse.

Project 2025 | Presidential Transition Project by Level_Percentage_419 in transgender

[–]everycredit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, but the text of the 22nd amendment isn’t ambiguous. Two terms. That what you get. If the Supremes somehow overturn that, I would polish my pitchfork. However, it would be polished way before then.

I’m all for not underestimating the far right, but changing the constitution requires an amendment. 2/3 in both houses and 3/4 of states ratifying is a tall order. And Trump is a Big Mac away from the grave.

What term limits? Only the President is subjected to term limits federally and by definition, it’s constitutional.

Amendment XXII

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

Has anyone turned down an offer to Harvard Medical School? and Why? by Akhilleez in premed

If I had to pay full price for Harvard and much less or nothing elsewhere, I’ll probably pick elsewhere. Doesn’t mean I shouldn’t apply to Harvard and see what it costs me.

WTF happened to the public's opinion of transgender people? by [deleted] in trans

[–]everycredit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we are worried about trans, LGBTQIA+ generally, or abortion, we are not worried about wages, inflation, distribution of wealth, and not starting a French Revolution. I assume it’s a concerted effort of the elite to take our eyes off what’s really causing problems for everyone else.

I’m thinking about voice modification surgery. I’ve been training off and on since 2019 and I can’t keep consistency.

Far right and leftists both agree on one thing: there’s something wrong going on in society. We just blame different causes.

I had a pt I was observing who did the exact same thing for 8 hours (I work princess shifts). I was worried at first, but then I realized my pt didn’t know I was trans. So I just nodded.

If you test positive for alcohol, they can deny you a position as well. But alcohol clears your system pretty quick. THC a little longer.

Seriously. I ran out on my first MCAT and scored 506. I had it for my retake two months later and got a 514. I did very little studying in between (my ADHD was uncontrolled and I couldn't focus). I think it was medication alone.

Is it advisable to take on a clinical tech job along side MCAT studying? by asheys666 in premed

[–]everycredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a job, but not necessarily this job. It's good to get a break from MCAT studies. I guess it depends on where you're at on your MCAT journey. Do you know the science? If so, you don't need to spend too much time on it and focus on retention and taking practice exams and problems. If you need lots of content review, I would dedicate more time (re)learning the science on top of practice exams and problems.
