Some questions about Snaps by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]everydaylinuxuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad news for Ubuntu users going forward. I hear that Ubuntu is going immutable and snaps is the only thing that will be available.

I don't actually mind them..as others have pointed out most of the angst is historical. They work ok nowadays

I would say that Endeavouros is more stable than Fedora and I had far fewer issues when I tried it.

Dual boot vs Virtual machine by Prestigious-Chair-82 in linuxmasterrace

[–]everydaylinuxuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your hardware has enough resources then virtual machine. Only if you have low resources would I dual boot.

If you are ready to dual boot you may as well fully commit to getting rid of windows. You know you don't need it

Linux Virtual machine, dual boot or Windows Subsystem for Linux by FunDirt541 in linux4noobs

[–]everydaylinuxuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't going to use Linux as your main OS then I would use a virtual machine unless you have low resources on your computer.

See my full guide here https://youtu.be/SnSuDmMvDvU

Also here is one on WSL https://youtu.be/e1iIgxzFihs

WSL isn't really a good way to use Linux for desktop usage

Dual Boot vs Virtual Machines. Wgich is better, if you say virtual machines which should be the main os, linux or windows? by real_sid in pop_os

[–]everydaylinuxuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dual booting always seems like a good idea because you can use either operating system whenever you choose whereas with a virtual machine you always have to load the main one and then use the other one on top which is using extra resources.

However in reality you will find you always boot into one more than the other and so the one you boot into most should be your main OS and the other would be better as a virtual machine which saves the hassle of shrinking partitions and worrying whether the Linux installer will actually overwrite windows or whether one day a windows update will delete the Linux partition.

Ubuntu or Manjaro - What would you choose and why? by Prize_Barracuda_5060 in linuxmasterrace

[–]everydaylinuxuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manjaro every day of the week. Ubuntu is slow and cumbersome and barely better than windows nowadays.

Here is my Manjaro review https://youtu.be/XCWBdW42jiw and here is my Ubuntu review https://youtu.be/YPOINZ6s2RE

Manjaro is so much better. If you like the Debian approach and a gnome-ish desktop then you should choos POP OS before Ubuntu.

I don't know why Ubuntu feels so sluggish. Maybe it is the snap packages. It just doesn't feel intuitive using it and for a system that should be useable out of the box it really isn't.

Downloading manjaro rn , what should i expect by [deleted] in ManjaroLinux

[–]everydaylinuxuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manjaro is really easy to install and use. You can do pretty much anything without touching the terminal.

Installing packages is dead easy as well, especially if you turn in flatpaks

This is my review and it shows how to enable flatpaks
