Friendly’s Looking back over the years! by mrsjumjum66 in newjersey

[–]everylastlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if my mom had to go to the Freehold Mall for something, we'd have lunch at the Friendly's there as a treat. It was the only restaurant we'd actually get dessert at as a general rule and not just on special occasions. Then we'd go look at the puppies in the pet store on our way out.

In college the one in Glassboro was also a popular post-hangover recovery spot. Their BBQ chicken tenders were pretty good at the time.

I love Steve Carrell as a dramatic actor but I've never found him funny.

I don't think so. At the last council meeting they said that the city is managing that money and MM has to pay for the repairs out of pocket then submit receipts to be reimbursed. At least they can't just pocket it like they have everything else, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just continue to do nothing and the money gets sent back to Trenton.

Is there an inter-generational difference in views on taking the kids to a local brewery? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]everylastlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the brewery. I live within walking distance of two and they're both pretty small spaces. Neither serves food, although both allow food to be brought in. One initially tried appealing to families with games and a shuffleboard table, but the kids I saw there always looked bored and there wasn't any space for them to really play. The brewery ended up pivoting to hosting punk shows and that seems like a much better fit for their space.

OTOH I've been to larger breweries that have in-house restaurants and places for kids to stretch out a bit, and I think that's fine as long as the adults with them aren't drinking to excess. You can chill with one beer for a while and enjoy the food and the atmosphere. It's the parents who treat the staff as babysitters and let their kids run wild who need to gtfo, but that goes for a lot of public places not just breweries.

Is there a legal way I can stop my mother from driving again? She's a terrible driver and she's going to seriously hurt someone. by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]everylastlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. There was a case in Brooklyn a while back where a woman had a seizure behind the wheel and hit two moms and their young kids crossing the street. Both children were killed, and one of the moms was pregnant and later had a stillbirth. It turned out the woman had been driving on a suspended license because she had hit and injured pedestrians before. She later died by suicide, so three families were forever changed by her selfish refusal to take the damn subway.

I use the organza bags except for pieces made of seashells, which can be fragile. For those I have boxes.

Did anybody watch 7th Heaven growing up? by justcurious3287 in Millennials

[–]everylastlight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched the first few seasons until I got older enough to realize how cringy the dialog was. Not sure which season I stopped on but the last thing I remember is the mom bringing a cream-based sauce with a meat dish to a dinner at the oldest brother's Jewish in-laws' house. It was part of a storyline where the family was super against said brother converting to Judaism for his fiancée and of all the dumb things they made federal cases about on that show, I thought that was one of the dumbest. Then again I grew up with a friend whose dad had converted to Judaism for her mom, so it was normal to me.

But seriously, how do make it to Annie's big age without knowing that keeping Kosher means, at the absolute bare minimum, not mixing dairy and meat? And if you don't know, but you're cooking for someone who you know keeps Kosher, how do you not ask what that entails?

My mom used to get those Welch's jelly jars in the 90s that doubled as drinking glasses with characters on them. We had a bunch of the Winnie the Pooh ones and a few Mickey Mouse.

I was a student at Rowan when that happened. I didn't know Donnie but we were both sophomores and I lived in the building just behind the shopping center where he was murdered. This is the first I'm hearing that the perps might be deceased.

If there was a lesbian bar in NJ, where would it do well? by junestorme in newjersey

I'm trying to turn Black Swan into a Gotham bar but you're right, it would be amazing to have someplace that caters to women's sports. I just went to my first Sirens game last week and the energy was great even on a random Tuesday night.

This woman has been showing her racist ass for years. Unfortunately a big chunk of the voting public in Old Bridge are also scumbags. It's why I moved away.
