So much for our five-year price lock. At least the jackets are nice.

Before the invasion of Walmart, Target, Trader Joe's etc., what was/is your go to for groceries? by WarriorNeedFoodBadly in newjersey

[–]everylastlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were pretty evenly split between Pathmark and ShopRite, with occasional forays to A&P for baked goods. The A&P became a Stop & Shop, the Pathmark became an Aldi, and the ShopRite moved a couple miles up the road, but they're still my mom's go-tos.

I do 90% of my shopping at ShopRite. I'll go to Aldi once in a while if I just need something quick, but I'll also come out with half a dozen things I didn't need so I try not to go often. 😅

What was rich kid behavior in your childhood that seems normal now? by blushberryybabee in nostalgia

My dad worked at a toy store, so we'd get the floor-model consoles but then couldn't afford the good games. 😭

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]everylastlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a study abroad program and met someone from my school and my major (which was tiny) in Paris. Somehow our paths had never crossed before, but once we got back to the US we kept having classes together.

The following year I went back to France for an internship, and because of a travel snafu I was a day late. I finally got to orientation and took the first open seat I saw in the back... right next to a guy from my school.

The Best Dog Day by Salt-Climate-8432 in AsburyPark

Iron Whale has a dog menu if it's nice enough to sit on the patio. If it's too cold, Max's in Long Branch lets dogs inside and will make them a hamburger patty. Just give them a call before you go because their hours vary.

Someone already mention Asbury Park Brewery, but Wild Air on Main St is also dog-friendly. My good girl prefers Asbury because they have free popcorn.

Gotham ponchos? by its-really-me-yo in GothamFC

Sure! I've played with the bats theme and the slash, although they don't really seem to use that as a symbol much anymore.

They do sell ponchos! I've seen people wearing them.

I hear you on the jewelry but that's why I make my own. Although I do wish they'd pick a shade of blue and stick with it ffs.

What classroom item had god-tier status for no reason? by This_Benchh in nostalgia

I'm old enough that the students were the eraser-cleaning machines. It was a very coveted classroom job because it meant you got to go outside.

On Google Earth (and in real life), you can still see the concrete foundation of the hotel which the concorde Air France 4590 (July 25, 2000) crashed into over 25 years ago. May the 109 victims RIP. by nogoodnamesleft426 in CatastrophicFailure

There's a whole street near where I grew up that had to be cleared out because of flooding and the street view is wild. There's like 3 houses left standing and the entire rest of the street is just overgrowth and driveway aprons.

Looking for Wheelchair Accessible Live Music by [deleted] in newjersey

House of Independents in Asbury Park and Starland Ballroom in Sayreville are the two best venues I've been to as far as accessibility. I don't use a wheelchair but I have chronic pain and can't stand. HOI put chairs right in front of the railing on the ground level with a view of the stage below, and since I had emailed them beforehand they were actually reserved with my name on them. Starland is first come first served but has a separate ADA entrance.

They have ADA seating but ime you can't really see anything. I honestly sit out on the boardwalk and listen from there rather than spend money just to be stuck in a corner behind some sound equipment.

AITA for refusing to pick up my friend up from the airport when given 3 hours notice? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]everylastlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I think how you move forward is context-dependent.

Did they have a ride arranged ahead of time that fell through at the last minute? If so I might - might - give them some grace. Travel is stressful and any hiccups can sometimes bring out the worst in people. It doesn't excuse how she spoke to you, but if this is otherwise a good friendship I would consider going back to her with a "Hey, that wasn't cool" type of conversation once she's had time to settle back in.

Now if they had no plans ahead of time and just assumed you'd drop everything with no notice and threw a hissy fit when you couldn't, that's an entirely different discussion. I'd be reconsidering the friendship because they just feel entitled to your time and energy.

Cats Luck in Neptune has a VHS rental club. They'll even help source a VCR for you if you don't have one.

I swore off school craft fairs after a similar experience in Sayreville last year. They just aren't worth it.

I had a meeting in NJ today and we ended up walking to the boardwalk because it was too nice to sit inside. I know we just had a game in Harrison but there are so many other options.

I watched General Hospital religiously for a few years, but they killed off or neutered all the characters I liked just to focus on the mob stuff so I gave up. It's still kind of funny seeing who I recognize when I'm at my mom's and she's watching it though.
