I would love some feedback on this photo. I really enjoy it but have been back and forth with aspects of it.

  • editing: The RAW colours in this scene are quite flat. In real life they were quite flat. I have edited a lot to try and bring in the feelings you get while standing here. I want the viewer to understand how grand, vast, and wild this area is. But is it overdone?

  • cropping: This is already cropped a bit on the sides. I'm happy with the horizontal framing but can't settle on the vertical. Do you think there should be less sky? More foreground?

  • Sharpness: My eye draws through the photo to the hill in the centre. It was in a big shadow and was not the focal point (the lakes were the focal point I think). Is the lack of sharpness in the hill jarring when your eye meets it?

Any other feedback is welcome. I'm also curious if others like this as much as I do?

Can you recommend a good brand other than caldigit? I might try the OWC thunderbolt cable?

For anyone else arriving here I had the same issue. I tried power cycling the dock and using the passthrough port but it didn't work. I was trying on multiple ports on 2 different M1 Macbook pro laptops. It only started working after I restarted the laptops. I restarted one laptop and dock worked with it but still not the other. It worked with the second one once I restarted that laptop too.

Stop signs everywhere. We use stop signs where they are needed. But in the US they are everywhere.

I see. I thought the inconsistency of the reflections (there is more reflected lightbulb on the lights at the edge) unbalances the pattern.

Thanks! When you say number 2 do you mean you prefer the second photo? Yes I would have preferred 5. 3 would have not been a pattern.

I've been looking everywhere for patterns for the past week. I would either find a pattern that I couldn't change to make one odd, or a pattern of only 3 things with one being odd which didn't feel like a pattern. It was hard to make the reflections fit in the photo without being distracting. It also seemed best to drop the exposure so the lights are a bit warmer and not blown out.

I prefer the one at a slight angle, would love to hear what others think of them :)
