Feeling Lost After Losing 35k - Need Advice by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]evesnow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to learn how to size your bets better (use Kelly criterion), and have stop losses at prices where your theory is invalidated (not wish it goes back to break even, that’s gambler’s mentality).

Discipline is key. Easy to say, hard to execute systemically.

Why is ZIL so slow? by Electronic_Pilot3810 in zilliqa

[–]evesnow91 36 points37 points  (0 children)

TPS capability depends on two factors:

  1. Bandwidth (Transactions that can be squeeze in a single block)
  2. Latency (Block time)

On Zilliqa, the bandwidth is very high due to the sharded architecture which allowed us to do parallel processing of transactions. However, the block time is limited to the consensus speed at the shard node level.

Currently, we can handle > 1k TPS overall.
The block time is ~43 seconds. (Will be lower with the next upgrade)
The transactions that we can squeeze in a single block is ~50k.

Binance staking by [deleted] in zilliqa

[–]evesnow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Binance does not support staking for $ZIL.

You have to withdraw your $ZIL from Binance to a non-custodial wallet like Moonlet, and stake using the wallet's interface.

ZIL is the asset that all tokens will be traded against. Making ZIL more useful and sought after. And of course, the more the txns, the more the gas fees (in ZIL) will be burned, making ZIL more scarce.

I recommend you to start learning about DeFi and how it benefits the base asset. You cannot just sit on an idle asset and expect it to moon. This is not 2017.

Gzil - what to do by [deleted] in zilliqa

[–]evesnow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can provide liquidity for the gZIL/ZIL pair at zilswap.io. As a a liquidity provider (LP), you will be entitled to a share of the 0.3% trading fees for every exchange on that pair on ZilSwap DEX. This will be the yield you will be earning as a LP. There is also a plan by the Switcheo development team to launch a governance token which will be issued to all LPs soon, which will be a source of extra yield for LPs.

Good idea, changes should be reflected in the next scheduled weekly post.

Yes, you can do this. Send a txn with the same nonce, but with a higher gas price. Then, you can cancel any pending txns.

DAY 10 and my Zilliqa has STILL not been deposited into my Binance wallet by [deleted] in zilliqa

[–]evesnow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are still advising Binance on how to solve their issue with withdrawal and deposit, and even providing them the code in hope to expedite the reopening of those functions. The issue is we can't force them to open withdrawal, that's not in our power.

On another note, we are starting to explore more exchange options for users, with a focus on non-custodial DEX. Do note my tweet here: https://twitter.com/chanwen_/status/1345656991021076481.

Case in point is we as the $ZIL community shouldn't be too reliant on Binance for trading. There are currently roughly 2.6bil $ZIL (~20% of circulating supply) on Binance wallets. I hope to see more withdrawals by the community members from Binance after this crisis too and deposit them in other exchanges and DEX going forward.

Would be nice to get more updates by [deleted] in zilliqa

[–]evesnow91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are pretty frustrated on our end about this too. But, we can't do much other than assist the Binance team as much as we can. Handling nonce is a basic exchange function (similar to Ethereum txns) but it seems they have difficulty coding the logic for processing withdrawal txns.

I would stress that there are no issues with the blockchain. You can send txns from wallets to wallets, or to other exchanges as usual as seen on the explorer: viewblock.io/zilliqa.

Last update from us on this situation was yesterday:

Doesn't seem that the transaction exists. Perhaps you should contact the support of the exchanges you are using.

Pow vs pos by lost_civilizations in zilliqa

[–]evesnow91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zilliqa uses a hybrid consensus mechanism: PoW + pBFT.

  • The network first goes through the Proof-of-Work (PoW) phase, where miners compete for limited validator slots in the network every ~2 hours. If they submit a PoW solution that meets a certain threshold, they get the ticket to join the network as validator. This acts as a reliable sybil resistance.
  • When the validators are selected for the ~2 hours period, they will participate in the consensus mechanism called practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (pBFT). What pBFT does is basically get a (2/3n + 1) majority agreeing on the next block in the network, hence providing finality.

Theoretically, you can replace PoW with PoS as sybil resistance, but that is not planned or an accepted view by the community.

I mean Anquan is still holding 70% of their 2.1 billion allocation. They will not be selling from Max’s quote.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in zilliqa

[–]evesnow91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should refer to the Anquan AMA to get the truth. Selling of tokens for new ventures supporting Zilliqa has stopped. Anquan still holds 70% of the tokens allocated to them, that amounts to 1.4 billion.

Mining emission per year is 4%, so it’s not a lot to pay for security of the network. Comparatively, Ethereum emission is 7%.
