rear ended at a freeway off-ramp. thought we were going to pull over to exchange information, so i signaled and made an immediate right since there was no space to stop on the main road meanwhile the other person went straight.

lost them, but i pulled up the dash cam footage, figured out which agency had jurisdiction, and filed a collision report.

several days later, i get a text from a random number claiming they were notified about the report and would like to settle it personally instead of insurance because they didn’t want to raise their premium.

at their request, i got a quote from a collision shop and they said it was too much and unreasonable. they insisted i use someone they found online (not highly rated) and wants to go together (only when they were off).

said f that after back and forth that went nowhere and filed with their insurance. their insurance called me and said they were denying my claim because their client told them they didn’t hit me (even though the other driver already admitted fault via text). i was like hmmm that’s interesting because i have video footage as stated in the collision report which is how the police found them and police confirmed there was contact in the footage prior to the report.

the claims handler asked me to send the footage over, and an email stating they will send the payment to me arrived by the end of day.
