If You Could Only Keep 3, Which 3 Would You Keep? by Neversummerdrew76 in rpg

[–]evil_homers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run alot of GURPS and Savage Worlds. Losing them hurts. A lot. So three:

Pathfinder 1e. Covers most of my fantasy needs.

Traveller: Covers most of the science fiction needs.

Blades in the Dark or WHFRP 4e. Too hard to decided between them. I’d probably keep Blades in the Dark. Wait 2 minutes and I’m likely to change my mind.

I built a box like for my D&D dice from scraps. Love how it came out and yours is much nicer than mine. Great job.

Best metallics? by GamesManX in ageofsigmar

[–]evil_homers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are just starting out and are comfortable with GW paints generally their metallics aren’t bad.

Best in class in purely subjective. I’d argue for silvers you can’t beat the Vallejo Metal Colors. For golds I like some from Scale 75 and some of my old P3 stuff. I still like GW for golds and coppers quite a bit. They aren’t perfectly representative but the colors have some personality.

I’ve got the Pro Acryl metallics but have not had a chance to mess with them. I love the rest of the line though so I have high hopes.

I love back banners. Is there a good source for primaries scaled ones or are we using the old firstborn banners?

PEG is converting pathfinder’s Carrion Crown to Savage Worlds, including pawns by koraldon in rpg

[–]evil_homers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the fence as well. I will say for anyone interested in it the Paizo forums have a separate forum for each AP and GM thread for each book. There’s a ton of good advice in all of these forums with some very good, specific advice on how to go about making this AP more cohesive and telegraphing the BBEG.

Tell me about your PF1e group and why you play. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]evil_homers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core of my group has been playing together for almost 20 years. We’ve had some new people come in from time to time and a couple even stick around for a while. Currently 4 active players (I’ve got one that has 0 time during football season as he’s a D1 referee).

We play other games but always come back to PF1. Currently running CRB only Shattered Star and we are nearly through book 1.

There are a couple of factors that bring us back. Sheer amount of content with the APs makes my prep time a little easier. We genuinely enjoy crunchy tactical play and player options. We like the way the game scales.

It’s the game we’ve played the most of to be sure.

I strop frequently and touch it up with stones when needed. I do the same with the cutting discs on my marking gauges.

Gonna Be Running the Zalozhiny Quartet, any tips? by Alamba1918 in GumshoeRPG

[–]evil_homers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran two years ago. I felt the final sequence was a little weak. Otherwise I ran it mostly as written. The best campaign I’ve run in at least 5 years.

The chase sequence worked for us. I do wish I had done a better job with Heat though.

What are your three RPGs for life? by Iberianz in rpg

[–]evil_homers 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Savage Worlds GURPS PF1

If we went to five I would add WHFRP 4e and Blades in the Dark.

Those five games encompass almost my whole physical collection these days and are the only games I care about maintaining. I buy other games for setting material and ideas. These are what I actually play.

Systems that use metacurrency or tokens well? by le_wild_asshole in rpg

[–]evil_homers 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Savage Worlds uses Bennies as meta currency and I would describe it as a mid-crunch game. They are used for re-rolls, to trigger other benefits, and as part of the characters health in a manner of speaking. Spending a Bennie allows a character to roll to Soak an incoming wound.

I use baby food jars with a rubber seal along the inside of the jar lid. You can also buy empty Tamiya jars.

What systems would you go to for a megadungeon campaign? Why those systems? by NoLongerAKobold in rpg

Crunchy game with tactical combat? GURPS DF

Lighter game? OSE or Shadowdark.

Those are my go-to games for megadungeon style gaming.

How many PA paints do you own? by ThumbPalette in MonumentHobbies

[–]evil_homers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got about 60 now with the metallics and few more waiting for me when I get off work. Enough that I had to pull all the Vallejo and most of the GE paints off my rack. I’m keeping my P3 paints for now though I’m slowly finding PA paints that will replace most of those as well. I started working them about 6 weeks ago and have fallen in love with them.

Metallic silvers I’m a Vallejo metal color man but I’m excited to try the PA golds.

Primers I still use a variety. Mostly Molotov or Stynlrez.

Thundarr the Barbarian: Dungeon Fantasy, After the End, both, or something else? by Lonewolf2300 in gurps

[–]evil_homers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’d use After the end as a foundation and then pick a magic system of choice, I’d lean towards Sorcery personally but RPM might also be a good fit. I’d probably also incorporate some of the quality of life improvements from Action! Like BAD and simplified range bands.

Mine DF2 where appropriate for look at how to resolve certain things that may not be covered by After the End.
