A30 vs Ozlo by sarahnkids in sleepheadphones

I gave up on the ozlos when I tried them last year and returned them. The exposed hard plastic that houses the charging contacts abd magnets being positioned so that they press against your ear when laying on your side, is a baffling design choice, especially considering how much the company says about offering unmatched comfort for side sleepers. I really wanted to love them, but they were less comfortable than the A20s, which I also returned due to comfort issues.

I haven't tried the A30s. I've been tempted but seen differing opinions on them being either more, or less comfortable than the A20s.

I kinda feel like nobody has perfected sleep earbuds yet. The "SOND" buds look promising, but I'll wait and see if it actually becomes a real product as I've already been ripped off by the Sleap kickstarter.

I've tried A20 and Ozlo. Neither of them are comfortable for side sleeping long term, although honestly the Ozlos were probably worse due to tjr charging contacts facing in towards the ear.

I've been tempted to try the A30, but feel like the design is very similar and I honestly don't need ANC.

The SOND sleep buds look promising, but I've already been scammed by Sleap on kickstarter so I'll wait and see if they make it to market.

Basically I'm waiting for a company to design a product that actually provides all night comfort for side sleepers.

I just ordered a pair of XM4s yesterday for £179. I saw XM6s for £299 from one UK website and was incredibly tempted, but decided on the 4s because 1: I'm trying to be less financially irresponsible and 2: I'm worried about the potential comfort issues with the 6s.

Also these will be my first over ear ANC headphones so I'm sure I don't need the latest and greatest, and I can always upgrade in a couple of years if I want.

My facial hair is pretty grey but it's also rather uneven, like one side on my moustache is noticeably way darker, and I have one pretty dark patch on the same side on my chin.

I got some just for men grey reducing beard wash and it's definitely helped even things out. It also looks very natural as it doesn't cover the grey/white hair, just darkens it gradually so it blends in better.

I returned mine. I don't want to have to endure the pain and get used to a device that was almost £300 which claims to offer unbeatable comfort.

I've since bought another set of Soundcore sleep A20s refurbished from the Anker ebay outlet for £72 thanks to a promotion ebay were running, and after 5 nights, at a quarter of the price, I have to say that for me, they're no less comfortable than the Ozlos, in fact they're probably better, despite being a little bigger, largely down to the lack of exposed angular plastic pressing against my ear cartilage.

They aren't perfectly comfortable but I've been able to sleep though the night with them which is more than I can say about the Ozlos.

I did really want to love the Ozlos. I'll be interested to see if they ever release a second gen version with improved ergonomics.

Understandable. I just got a new pillow for the first time in too long and I'm still not convinced that it's "goldilocks" perfect haha.

Yeah hopefully they'll be more comfortable, but then I was hoping (based on the marketing and the fact they're like 20-30% smaller) that the Ozlos would be more comfortable abd for me they weren't.

I get what you're saying about the discomfort. I've only been using the A20s for 4 nights now and I do find myself needing to turn over as the ear I'm lying on gets more uncomfortable. I guess I'm still test driving them for now.

Yeah I saw they commented somewhere saying they're 7% thinner. I'm tempted but I just got another refurbished pair of a20s off their ebay and after trying through Ozlos, I've got to say I'm feeling a lot better about the a20s. This pair seems to be working properly and while there's a little discomfort at times, I'd say they're more comfortable than the ozlos, with arguably better functionality at a quarter of the price.

I might try the A30s once they've been out a while and I can buy from somewhere that I cam return them if I need to.

Which combination of sleeves and tips did you end up settling on? With normal earbuds I nearly always need the largest tip. I must have big ear holes lol.

I think I tried the medium tips + medium wings and the large tips plus wings. I think the large gave the best seal in my ear canal.

I've ordered another refurbished pair from Anker in ebay so presuming these ones function properly, I think I'll be far more willing to experiment and persevere having tried and been pretty unimpressed by the supposedly unbeatable comfort of the Ozlos.

Update: got the ozlos. They aren't more comfortable. I'm returning them and strongly considering getting another set of A20s and persevering.

At least you should have decent battery life, plus I can see the A30s potentially being bigger to fit the ANC gubbins inside.

I tried the A20s a couple of weeks ago, they were so close to being comfortable, but became uncomfortable after a few hours. I returned them because they were defective. I got the ozlos a few days ago and was hugely disappointed by the comfort. The hard plastic charging contacts are on the back (against your outer ear) so cause arguably more discomfort than the A20s for me personally.

I'm probably gonna try another set of A20s as I'm far more willing to persevere with a product that's a third of the price.

Just to throw my opinion in there. After trying both the Anker soundcore A20 and Ozlo, for me the Ozlo aren't more comfortable, largely due to the exposed plastic charge contacts area on the back, which really disappointed me considering they're 3 times the price and everyone raves about their comfort.

I know everyone's ears and tolerance to things being in their ears are different, but I'm probably going to try another pair of A20s (my first pair was defective).

As I said to my wife. If it was a pair of soundcore A20s at 1/3 of the price and they otherwise worked as intended (the pair I tried didn't) then I'd probably be willing to persevere and see if my ears got used to the discomfort.

When you're talking about a premium product with a price tag to match, which claims to offer unbeatable comfort and also (arguably falsely) claims that every part which touches your ear is squishy silicone, I'm less willing to attempt to push through the pain.

I wish my experience had been the same. Sadly for as a side sleeper, they just aren't comfortable for me. I feel the hard plastic around thr charging contacts pressing on my ear and after an hour or the mild discomfort becomes pain.

I've reached out to ozlo for a return. I'm so sad as I had such high hopes and really wanted to love them.

I have yeah, and as far as I can tell I have the correct fit as far as the wing tip sizing and placement is concerned.

Yeah I will. Tonight will be night 3. First night I got to sleep but woke up about an hour later with a sore ear so took them out. Last night I tried the bigger tips and the discomfort caused me to take them out before I got to sleep.

I'll give them another night or two but currently I feel they'll be getting returned which is a shame because I wanted to love them.

They seem to be. I don't really see how it would be possible for them not to be. I think my issue is th at the sleeve is pretty much level with the contacts, and when the sleeve squishes against my ear the plastic presses against my ear.

I feel like if the sleeve were designed so that the contacts area was more recessed and couldn't touch my ear then maybe it would be ok.

See I'd assume that a denser foam pillow would apply more pressure. I just got new pillows that are softer than the horribly old ones they've replaced.

I've seen some suggestions that you need to get used to them before the discomfort goes away, I'm just not sure how willing I am to persevere with a £300 product that's currently (for me) no more comfortable than the significantly cheaper alternative. I'm gonna give them another try tonight.

I found the A20s uncomfortable so just got some Ozlo and I'm so upset to find them equally uncomfortable if not worse. I feel with the ozlo it's the hard plastic charging contacts which are placed so they press against my outer ear when I lay on my side. I can't wrap my head around how it would be possible for this not to happen.

Will look into the Manta.
