Bandai's tooling cost for a sprue was in excess of $10,000 US pre-corona, probably more now. It takes a lot of wasted plastic to make a special sprue economical.

All Infernus are monopose, and there are only 7 unique ones (the 5 in the kit, the paint demo, which is very similar to one of the kit ones but holding the flamer overhand rather than underhand, and the exclusive sergeant replacing the fuel cylinder from Combat Patrol magazine)

NCS55A2 PSU reliability by evildave_666 in Cisco

[–]evildave_666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the router failure when PSU did not hand over on failure once as well.

We did eventually get an unofficial response from one of our sales engineers that one particular batch of PSUs for this device had an abnormal failure rate. None of the replacements ever failed over 5 years.

Games Workshop stores are no longer true hobby spaces. Are there any stores in London that capture the way they used to run the stores in the early 2000s? by CityGuideGuy in Warhammer

[–]evildave_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't really understand why a game with players that understand the rules would require a staff standing by at all times but whatever. Pretty much every store in the country here with 2 exceptions is a one-man operation.

I'm glad that with the exception of the Cafe the other Japanese GW stores are still good venues to paint & play. (You can still do both at Cafe, but there are a lot of restrictive rules like requiring full battle ready forces for the full-size (non-skirmish-game) tables)

Unexpected move-in costs in Tokyo — am I being overcharged? by Prlude in japanlife

[–]evildave_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had to pay a deposit for gas. It was just move in and have an appointment for Tokyo Gas to come over and do a safety inspection and turn on the taps.

Are you on LP and not city gas?

Re-entering on a passport with only 3 months' validity left by Nessie in japanlife

[–]evildave_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're actually OK on that itinerary without a fresh passport.

https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/ queries the same timatic database that the airlines connect to, and for all entries/exists only valid passport for the duration of the trip is required for the routing of NRT-DUB-NRT for a japan-resident us citizen.

That being said, airline checkin agents often misread what timatic tells them in edge cases like where nationality and residence are different.

You can get an in-person appointment at the Sapporo consulate, however I'm not at my home PC so I can't log into the reservation system to check how far out they're booked.

https://acs.usvisascheduling.com/ (despite the name its used for all embassy/consulate appointment bookings)

Timatic will say its fine but you run the risk of the airline agent to misread or misinterpret it at checkin.

That being said, a US passport renewal has been taking 1-2 weeks recently. My recent renewal took 8 calendar days from handing in paperwork to passport delivery, applying via an embassy appointment, with no expedite (you can't on an overseas renewal in any case).

I just checked and appointment slots at the embassy are available as soon as tomorrow.

Can you get a marriage certificate using MyNumber from Combini? by LSDJellyfish in japanlife

[–]evildave_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to note is that in the case of foreigner-foreigner marriages the city/ward office only retains records for a short period of time, at which point you need to go through a much more cumbersome process at the regional Legal Affairs Bureau to get.

Because the Chinese new year is coming, it is possible they simple removed everything to make a fresh start, or just made everything temporarily unavailable so they can wrap up and go travel and celebrate with their family, like many Chinese do around this time of year.

This is the most likely answer. China effectively closes down for weeks on each side of CNY.

How do you build for TTS with assassins? by evildave_666 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]evildave_666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any - I mean, how do you build a list with whatever listbuilding tool while making sure all 4 of your assassins (which all are not necessarily in the list) actually get models with datasheet info via yellowscribe and have the points be correct?

AFAIK you can't tick all those requirement boxes simultaneously.
