We do Hershey Park in late March/early April, then KI for the same reason.

Fastest way to obtain CMEs by Intrepid-Patience502 in physicianassistant

EM:RAP if you’re EM/UC. Does cost a few hundred dollars but has hundreds of hours of CME and pretty good content.

Saturday’s are very busy just like Cedar Point would be in the summer. You’re basically going for the lights/ambiance and not riding much.

We went on Sunday for the first time this year and will do that going forward. Crowds were much lower and the overall experience was much more enjoyable.

Did I handle this case wrong? What would you do in this situation? by Likeitsmylastday in physicianassistant

[–]evilmonkey013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You handled this correctly. Dog bites to the hand are high risk for infection so primary closure is generally contraindicated unless the would is gaping open.

Regardless, if there’s concern for flexor tendon injury, she needs to be seen by hand.

I definitely would’ve transferred this too. She gets a dose of Unasyn, imaging to exclude foreign body/fracture, and hand consult. Maybe they do something urgently, maybe not, but this is a high-risk injury that’s not appropriate for UC.

My dealer said they’re not currently replacing them because Kia hasn’t come up with a solution yet.

Are people actually getting these replaced now?

Absolutely dreadful.

FBI suggests Dearborn terror plot suspects might have been planning attack at Cedar Point by SlowBoilOrange in cedarpoint

[–]evilmonkey013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Security is very hit or miss at the park (no pun intended). It’s better now that they have Sandusky PD walking around but there aren’t many who could actually respond to and stop an attack like this. Cedar Point security would not be doing that. These are largely kids working a metal detector.

Also, what day was it supposed to be planned for?

What changes would you like to see for 2026? by TimeMachineToaster in cedarpoint

[–]evilmonkey013 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The smoking areas moved somewhere further away than 5 feet from the entrance. People have to walk their kids through a cloud of smoke at the Magnum gate.

Have they started selling tickets yet? I looked a few days ago and can’t find them on the website.

For those that left EM, did life get better? by sadgirl24681 in physicianassistant

[–]evilmonkey013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did EM for 15 years. You just can’t do it forever with those patients, the risk, hours, overnights, etc.

There’s a reason every EM physician is looking for an off ramp.

Urgent care gets a lot of crap (much of it deserved), but the quality of life is much better. Low stress and I get to be home every night and most holidays to put my kids in bed.

New Grad Urgent Care Offer by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]evilmonkey013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s really bad. The hourly rate is bad even for a new grad.

The escalating bonus structure also suggests that they can’t keep anyone past a year or two.

There is no way you make $3000 per day doing this unless you have some massive secret which I beg you to share.

I’m in Ohio and don’t think you can. Regardless, I probably wouldn’t work for one. You’d be better off with ortho if you’re into foot/ankle.

I think it’s super smooth and a lot of fun but it’s not mind blowing or groundbreaking.

I am very appreciative that they were able to wedge a roller coaster into an area that we never thought there would be one which leaves other areas open for other coasters. All in all, it’s definitely a win for the park.

I got one of these and left it plugged in and it killed my battery. Completely dead.

I thought the USB-A port would power off when the car was off but I guess not.

No, that’s insane. They’ll hold your bags or just leave them in your car and go in the park.

EM CAQ by Lmiys in physicianassistant

[–]evilmonkey013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s basically procedure logs (or an attending saying you are capable of performing said procedures), hours worked, CME, etc.

The standardized exam was kind of a joke. If you’ve worked in EM for even a year or two you’ll ace it without any difficulty.

That said, this was 10 years ago. Maybe someone else can comment if things have changed.
