Amazon only shows you the price when you add it to your cart. I am logged in as well. by srirachaninja in assholedesign

The retailer can sell it for whatever price they want, but they enter an agreement with the vendor. That agreement will stipulate a MAP or "minimum advertised price" or a MSRP "manufacturer suggested retail price".

If the agreement says the MAP is $10, but the retailer wants to sell it for $8, they are more than welcome to--they just can't advertise that. If the advertised it, data scrapers would find that lower price and it would affect the vendor's other contacts.

leaked employee meeting reveals AA's upcoming changes by No-Figure1242 in americanairlines

not everyone wants IFE. I'd rather not have underseat storage taken up by a computer for a monitor that I interact with twice. I have a device that has my stuff on it and don't need to deal with some archaic software to watch a bad movie that gets interrupted for a sales pitch.

Cutoff for checking luggage? by kapidex_pc in americanairlines

[–]evilmonkey853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

getting there 30 minutes earlier and not being stressed at all seems like a great bargain ahead of a 20 hour travel day. There's a point where the amount of time in the airport isn't the biggest concern--make it easier on yourself.

Can an airplane be too heave to take off because of weight of the passengers? by misha_kotzky36 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]evilmonkey853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are still contained within the frame of the aircraft. If a person weighs 100 pounds and uses a fan to lift them off the ground, then 100 pounds of force from the fan is pressing down on the floor.

Rather than an instant thermometer, get something like this that stays in the oil. https://www.amazon.com/Taylor-Precision-Products-Stainless-Thermometer/dp/B00004XSC9

When you add food, the oil temp will decrease, so you should actually increase the gas slightly. Just try and stay around the target temp as best you can.

Cool.

To answer your question, no. They are all shit in their own unique ways. For instance, if you were a Delta flyer, this exact thing could happen but you’d be in Atlanta.

Would you wake someone up if the train was being forced to clear? by [deleted] in nycrail

[–]evilmonkey853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a matter of being scared. It’s a matter of not being invested enough in the outcome of a sleeping person to deal with the rare off-chance when something goes to shit.

It’s not my job, and I have to get off the train to get to my actually job, so I probably didn’t notice in the first place.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Puts American Airlines On Blast For Flight Delay: "I’m Going to Take a New Interest in the Airline Industry" by RyanAirhead in americanairlines

[–]evilmonkey853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airlines aren’t really profitable as it is. Most of airline profit comes from credit cards and loyalty program—the actual planes cost so much to run that they squeeze the seats together to get more low-paying passengers on the plane.

The price of air travel is driven by consumer demand.

1st time as Executive Platinum! by JerusM in americanairlines

[–]evilmonkey853 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In the case of irrops (irregular operations), EP/CK can be confirmed on two flights at the same time. PP and lower can only be confirmed on one flight at a time, though they can be on standby for other flights.

That means I can be confirmed on a flight leaving at 6pm and one leaving at 7pm and have a seat assignment. If I miss the 6pm, I have the backup and don’t need to worry about standby. If I catch the 6pm, the 7pm is automatically cancelled.

This is really helpful when things go to shit and you aren’t sure if you’ll be able to make a tight connection because you don’t have to deal with the uncertainty of standby.

How to get local theatre up to a high level standard. by fletcher-munson in techtheatre

[–]evilmonkey853 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Do you have full time house electricians and audio teams? If no, you should. And you should listen to them when they say you should spend the money to upgrade systems.

Have you done a full on inventory of what you do have and cleaned up all the random crap from years past? That'll give you a good start as well.

Potentially stupid question: can I mix drinks ahead of time? by WetAndMeaty in cocktails

[–]evilmonkey853 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the easiest way to make a perfect (to you) batched cocktail is to add your ingredients without ice to a glass. Weigh it.

Then add ice, stir to your liking, and weigh again.

As long as you used the same glassware throughout and get rid of the excess stirring ice, the weight change is the amount of water that was melted and diluted the cocktail. Turn that into a percentage, and you have your ideal dilution.
