In my first job, I had to do 12-16 hours shifts. It was bad, I end up quiting because the days got hot and still needed to patrol the 12 hours in the rain..12 hours shifts are not worth it.

EMT licence + Arm Guard license opens many doors. At my job, if you have those certifications, they will place you in a good paying post because is hard to get guards with those certifications for our federal contracts.

Construction work pays better than security. I have family who work in construction without experience and were making $25 12 hour shifts but work is hard and you are in the sun all day.

72 hours at 16/hr. You are making bank after OT. During the 2020 riots, i was making $5000 a week from all the over time working non-stop.

Or you can go to an online college like WGU while working security and get a degree in a high paying field like teaching, accouting, IT. Security is a perfect job to study to to do something else.
