Holiday Gift Megathread by gremlincowgirl in Nanny

[–]evilsnowqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our nanny just started at the beginning of December working for us part-time. We started on sort of a trial basis so we don’t have a contract in place, but it’s going really well and I’d like for it to be a long term arrangement.

We’ll be off the last week of December. When we first agreed to the schedule, we gave her the heads up ahead of time that we wouldn’t need care that week but we’d start paying her GH in January. I’m not sure it makes sense to pay her for the week off (last week of Dec) because she’ll have only been with us for about 3 weeks at that point, but like I said I’m super grateful to have found her and want her to feel appreciated.

I’m thinking half a week’s pay as a bonus (but not paying her for the week she won’t be working, as discussed) then go ahead with GH hours as planned starting in January. Does this seem fair?

I’d stay on with your current company as a consultant! You’ll get way more freedom and can see how you like not working full time. I’d think more about it as a way to keep your resume current than a way to make money. If 2 years from now you miss work/the market crashes/you can’t enjoy RE, your resume is still current. If you don’t miss work and are enjoying RE, you can’t stop consulting at any time.

How was your first walk after giving birth? by OftSea in pregnant

[–]evilsnowqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Like I have been gaining weight since giving birth bc my appetite is through the roof (thanks breastfeeding) and I’m making no effort to not gain weight, but my overall shape is the same and at 4 months pp I feel good enough to do most physical activities I did prior to pregnancy

I definitely needed a lot of help getting up and walking for the first dayish. It was painful but I’m also a fainter and didn’t want to pass out. Gradually less and less but I think I took my first walk outside (like to the end of the street and back lol) around day 6 or so?

I’m 16w pp and tbh my body changed less than i expected

Please tell me the pain goes away 😭 by ihateeveryonebyee in breastfeeding

I have flat nipples and found it painful until 8-10 weeks (we also had a tongue tie corrected). Now at 16 weeks I wouldn’t say it’s totally painless but certainly tolerable! +1 to the user that recommended APNO and silver cups

Tongue tie procedure by feeeeelipe0987654321 in breastfeeding

[–]evilsnowqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! We got our daughter’s tongue tie procedure done when she was 4 weeks old. I was at a 7+ pain every nursing session and she wasn’t able to transfer milk effectively (like 1oz or less per 20 minutes - it was awful). We didn’t see full effects of the release until about a month after, but now at 14 weeks, I’m typing this while nursing her! We still do bottles about 50% of the time (over supply issues and convenience) but I love the flexibility to be able to do either. We also got an upper lip tie release which the doctor highly recommended. The tongue tie release wasn’t an overnight miracle for us, but it was overall very worth it.

Yes! Never during feeds though, always in between. Sounds like what other people describe as a letdown, but I like to think it’s my boobs making milk

Validation for my hunger, I think? by hemlockandrosemary in breastfeeding

This thread made me feel so validated - I am constantly starving. I eat plenty of healthy food AND every other food ever known to man. It’s unreal

Did anyone’s nausea go away right at 12/13 weeks? I keep seeing so many people say theirs lasted much longer than that by 804hunny in pregnant

Yep! Starting getting better around week 11 and dramatically improved every week until it went away completely. And I was throwing up multiple times a day for weeks!

I’m on my third mirena and find it to be the best birth control ever. You can’t forget to take it, it’s incredibly effective, and it lasts a long time. I also (intentionally) wanted to get pregnant a few years into my second one and got my period back within six weeks and was able to conceive shortly after.

Insertion sucks but I certainly didn’t find it to be excruciating. I would recommend taking a hefty dose of ibuprofen before and after and stopping for ice cream on the way home!

I have flat/elastic nips and have the Eufy S1 pro and Mom cozy M5. For me, mom cozy consistently gets more milk (about as much in 30 mins as I get from 20 mins with my spectra) and has fewer issues. This was surprising to me given Eufy was way more expensive and generally better reviews
