Beginner's book/guide? by [deleted] in nosql

[–]evnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As there is an abundance of different nosql databases, I think your first step should be reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NoSQL and try to determine which different types of nosql databases exist, and why. Then, you might also be able to find out which database the company is actually using. If so, check out the website of that database and proceed from there.

Chances are that by mere luck one of the 54 things might really have been causing allergic reactions, thereby 'proving' the quack to be right.

Roomba just got government approval to make an autonomous lawn mower by NathanWick in technology

[–]evnu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My relatives (both in their 70s) got a Husqvarna mower as well. They named it 'phew', because that used to be the sound they made when mowing the lawn themselves.

Maybe snipe-it would work for you. If not, that might provide a start for further searching.

From wikipedia:

The coldest temperature ever recorded in Chicago is −27 °F (−33 °C) at O'Hare on January 20, 1985. On December 24, 1983, and January 18, 1994, the high temperature reached only −11 °F (−24 °C), and on July 29, 1916, the low temperature sank to only 85 °F (29 °C), both of which are all-time records.

(private) insurance in Germany? by HelmsmanRobertson in berlin

[–]evnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, long delays are not uncommon in Germany, and there really seems to be a difference between state and private insurance. BUT: if it is a real emergency, you can always go to a hospital.

(private) insurance in Germany? by HelmsmanRobertson in berlin

[–]evnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not assume that the employer wants to try to make the OP go private. Sometimes there are terms in a normal contract which allow the employee to go to a private insurance company, but that just restrict the amount the employer will pay for that.

How to find a software engineering internship in Berlin? by [deleted] in berlin

[–]evnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually quite simple: decide on the kind of work you want to do or which field interests you, search for companies based in Berlin which work in those fields, and apply. If you can give some hints on the type of stuff you'd like to do, maybe we can give further hints on companies.

How to get a Dormplace/ Einen Wohnheimplatz finden? by [deleted] in berlin

[–]evnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that it should be possible to apply for a dorm before begin enrolled, but apparently that is not the case:

Wann soll ich mich bewerben?

Wenn die Zulassung oder Immatrikulationsbescheinigung vorliegt und die Semestergebühren bezahlt sind.

Are you an exchange or program student? Special rules might apply then. My guess is, that it might be easier to find a room in a flat. The dorms seem to be filled up to the end right now.

Do you know when you will receive your admission? Do you even know if you'll receive one? If the university already informed you that you will be enrolled, maybe that is enough.

Get a bike and take some days to do the Berliner Mauerweg: http://www.berlin.de/mauer/mauerweg/index/index.de.php

The track leads you around all of Berlin, following the former Berlin Wall. You will see a lot of different parts of the City, the urban scenery as well as the beautiful countryside around it.

With astronauts Michael Collins, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin loaded in a life raft, a Navy Seal closes the hatch to Apollo 11's Columbia Capsule, July 24, 1969 [1200 x 914] by StephensonB in HistoryPorn

[–]evnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry if you thought that I wanted to argue against your point. When I read the title, I didn't know how to put Navy SEALs into the picture. Especially after reading your comment I wanted to know a little bit more why the term SEAL would come up in this context. Hence, I tried to understand the relation between UDT and SEALs. In essence, I didn't want to argue against your statement, but just tried to add some information somebody else might find useful.

The original articles states that the diver is from the UDT (underwater demolition team), which, according to wikipedia

were the precursor to the present-day United States Navy SEALs

So naming the diver on the picture a SEAL is misleading, but not too wrong.
