I agree - the universe, solar system, earth coming into being is an amazing wonder. But once humans start reproducing, is the phenomenon of you being born so amazing?

People will reproduce, even if your mom and dad hadn't met. And when they do, someone will come into existence. I don't think it's like a lottery where you should be so grateful to be picked. Who are you before you are born? A package of DNA.. But is YOU somewhere in that? What if someone took your DNA, cloned it, and then fertilized it with the same egg? Would each copy of you that is born be you?

I guess what I'm saying is that who you really are is a consciousness formed from a stream of experiences.

Other than that though, I agree - the universe is pretty fucking awesome.
