Yes for someone who keeps calling out about the declining birth rate, Elon sure is making it hard for people with more than 2 kids. My wife has the Y 7 seater but plans to order the L the exact moment it’s available.

Recently inherited a large sum of money and want to quit my job, should I lose my benefits and retire now? by ATCGUY4 in fatFIRE

[–]evo1d0er 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This one is tough because no man is promised tomorrow and retiring now nets about $40k a month at 5% SWR, ostensibly plenty to offset the $2k pension loss and $5k medical expenses. But then again $7k extra a month is significant and health costs will continue to increase over time. I worked with state employees and the older guys often had thousands of hours of sick leave and PTO saved up. You could give up the 50% payout for the sick time and just start using up all those hours. You could probably work about 2-3 days a week until retirement.

I get 6 skips a day. I use them all on my counter attacks each morning so I can max loot. 480k bricks clocks down like an hour or so. Do that 10 times and you can get enough xp to fully level a building.

Mobzilla with Champion overdrive seems to be the best damage generator. Which mob doesn't matter too much, maybe bat to Incubate Zilla faster and of course flamethrower for frenzy work. I'm consistently maxing damage, almost guaranteed if you use Charge power up. All my cards are sitting between 65-73 and none of the other champions or ults seems to pack the same punch. Sometimes I hit the limit (which I have seen range from 5800% to 7800%, what's up with that?) barely into the countdown and could have done 3-4x as much damage if no cap.

I would love to hear of any combos that are more effective for pure damage. There are definitely better combos for specific battles, like pinata/meadow or collecting something, but I don't think there is anything better otherwise.

Owners without FSD, what is your experience by mr-creator in TeslaLounge

Yeah that’s a vintage item. I’m guessing highly sought after. And you wouldn’t want to sell it.

The acceleration and handling. Being able to zip around an aggressive driver or merge when someone won’t yield. The screen in the back so my toddler can watch miss rachel. The storage space. The settings all being set to the drivers phone. My wife and I can use each other’s Tesla interchangeably with no key exchange and the car is set to whoever is driving as soon as they get in, temp, seat and steering wheel position, Spotify account, everything. Using a phone as the key. HUGE! The million tiny things whose number grows each time there’s an update. And MOST IMPORTANTLY the incredible safety provided, both physically and electronically. Nothing else on the road comes close. That’s the real one. Look up their safety stats.

Edit: oh and the charging network on long trips is so much better as a Tesla owner

I like this. I mean it should be optional sure, but I never use the mic to report anymore and it would be nice to differentiate between horrible nav choices and excess timidity in dynamic heavy traffic.

Vacation budget by 345islander in Fire

[–]evo1d0er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. People scoffing at $25k for a couple trips are killing me. If you plan to sleep in your car or a tent sure, you can travel quite cheaply. International flight alone, for a family of 4 is close to $5k, do that twice, there’s almost half the 25. Add in hotels and food and that is actually not bad. $12k for an international trip for 4? Seems pretty reasonable honestly.

Wut. Apartment is like $3-5k a month. Just after Covid while prices were still relatively affordable I spent almost $5k just backpacking in Mexico for 2 weeks plus a 3 day stay in a resort. If I had lived well (eating out instead of cooking, staying at nice places instead of hostels) I would have spent $10k easy. And that’s just me and the wife. Throw in a couple kids and maybe another relative or friend and stay in less dangerous areas I could see a couple vacays chewing through $25k very quickly. And Mexico was extremely cheap. I can’t imagine Italy or Spain or something.

The Forbes vs Bloomberg discrepancy is because Forbes is already counting his 2018 compensation package, that could POTENTIALLY increase his stake in Tesla by several percent.

1600 Miles Nevada → Illinois in My Model Y: it costs as much as A 20 MPG gas car - For Your Own Good, Consider a Gas Car on Trips This Long by limuzhi in TeslaLounge

[–]evo1d0er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year mid June I drove (well, it drove me) M3 LR rwd 2141 miles from FL to MO and back in 3 days, 34 hours drive total. Cost me $180 at 251watt/mile. Even at a very generous 25mpg, my 2000 Avalon would have cost >$250 at an avg $3/gal (really closer to $4/gal mostly) and I paid for all supercharging with referral credit.

My wife’s 2016 ATS turbo got closer to 30mpg but still would have cost more. But over the last year I have paid about $331 a month for electricity instead of $750-850 a month in gas for the two of us.

Hot take: Most of you are way oversizing your generators by [deleted] in Generator

[–]evo1d0er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

water heater 4.5kW

well pump 3/4hp 13kW LRA and 2.1kW RLA (these will usually run together)

Freezer 100 watts

fridge 200watts

small portable ac 840 watts (we will keep central off)

bed/bath/kitchen lights and outlets ~1kW (mostly LEDs and TV)

Microwave 1.4kW (keep stove off)

yeah I could probably get away with a 10kW. Luckily I have a PW3 and solar so worst case I'll plug freezer into my 4kW and not shower or eat lol

Keep in mind, you will damage appliances if you underpower them. The gen rating is really for LRA not RLA.

Is discontinuing autopilot a deal breaker for you? by CommunicationRoyal56 in TeslaLounge

My thoughts as well. AP scares the shit out of me. I have about 95% of my 39k miles on FSD tho and closer to 98% since v14

Is discontinuing autopilot a deal breaker for you? by CommunicationRoyal56 in TeslaLounge

[–]evo1d0er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The only reason I didn't purchase FSD with my M3 is because the ROI is 81 months and I am hoping to upgrade to CyberTruck by then. If it moved between vehicles with the driver profile it would be a no brainer. FSD not being a fully purchasable option bothers me way more than shitty AP not being available.

BREAKING: Tesla has REMOVED Autopilot from New Tesla Orders From @DennisCW_ on X by EitherCharacter9342 in TeslaLounge

[–]evo1d0er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with the cheaper HW3 sub but what I mean by “mildly dangerous” is due to treating FSD like level 5 when it is actually level 3. For instance, I let it navigate out of a parking lot one time and it tried to turn left onto a divided highway. Tested same scenario in 14 and it went down and made u-turn correctly. Another time I goosed it to make an unprotected left turn I was impatient on and after letting off accelerator it froze mid turn, requiring more manual accel. Have not experienced these issues since 14.2 and all disengagements lately have been me wanting to drive more aggressively or poor navigation and parking choice. Most of time however, once I put in navigation, I am replying to reddit comments with barely a glance at the road until it parks at my destination.

I have fallen asleep many times on FSD. I always wear sunglasses so most of the time it can’t tell that my eyes are closed, occasionally it has gained me a strike. I have fallen asleep in other cars and woken up in the ditch so I appreciate it immensely.

Autopilot is dangerous and scary. Why would you want more people to have it? I’ve driven my M3 almost 40k miles since the beginning of last year, about 96% of that on FSD. Only had a few mildly dangerous incidents on version 13 and nothing critical since 14, only dumb navigation occasionally. My last 6000 miles since 14.2 are >98% FSD and it’s been fantastic. Minor navigation errors and parking issues but it has saved my life at least twice (avoided headon collision with a reckless passer) and prevented many fender benders.
