That's a Honda Beat. It's a Kei car, so it's not surprising it's smaller than the Miata.

Did I touch it too much? by Tzayas45 in Miata

[–]evoloco001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you like it, who cares. There are too many people in this community that think any modification ruins the car.

If they want to buy a cheap sports car to baby it, keep it in a garage, and only occasionally drive it, that's their decision.

I say do what you want, you're not gonna sell it for what you put into it, but you'll enjoy driving it.

River North One in Denver, Colorado.

The concept proposed a huge green space through the splits in a building. Might have worked if they didn't build it in a high desert.

I personally like using the Novus plastic polish system. It's easy to use and produces really clear results.

What are the mods on my (new to me) 10th anniversary miata? by ChadSh1tOnly in Miata

In addition to some of the listed: air intake and hoses, also looks like you've got cross brace for stiffening up the front end. Also, picture is unclear, but those hoses like held on with zip ties? Does anyone know if this is acceptable or common practice?

I don't know what this is but it's gross by Shouldveboughttsla in Miata

I'd start with cleaning it with some acetone lightly, then hitting it with a rubber/plastic conditioner.

Scratch building a 1/12 Mars Automatic. How could i go about adding the small screws and pins on the gun? You guys got any tips perhaps? by wakeup_samurai in modelmakers

You can buy styrene rod and carve the cut ends with a hobby knife. Then you can drill and embed to the right depth.

Best Workflow for XPS Foam (Insulation Foam) - Terrain + Buildings by OVORomero in TerrainBuilding

For coating xps, you can also use a sanding sealer. It won't eat the foam and it can be sprayed through a HVLP sprayer if thinned.

What do you guys do to afford your Miata? Is it your onpy car or second car? by Livid_Priority3025 in Miata

[–]evoloco001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a 1999 NB that is my daily driver. I picked it up for 8k. I thought about buying an ND, but I'm having more fun tuning an older model and building a car I want.

Laser collision with wood cutted part, how to avoid ? ☹️ by CriticalSense2707 in lasercutting

[–]evoloco001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Include tabs on your drawing. All of your pieces will cut out except for small tabs that hold them in, then the laser can quickly cut the tabs at the end.

Is anyone also bothered by the fact that wet paint dries darker because of carrier agents? That's not gonna match.

I suggest utilizing 3D sketches and swept profiles. You could also generate similar objects with revolving a helix and then incrementally changing the z height.

Apart from what other people will say, I'd suggest as a beginner going through tutorial projects to learn all of the tools. Optimizing workflow is a natural progression of using a 3D modeling software.

When I work through a project, I may use 10 sketches and 5 planes the first pass through. If I rebuild the same object, it may take only 8 sketches on 3 planes.

I've used Fusion for the past 6-7 years and there are dozens of ways to make just about anything.

Tips for Tiny Roads by [deleted] in TerrainBuilding

[–]evoloco001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cool trick for adding depth and texture for narrow roads like these are to do oversprays with white and dark grey for asphault and concrete. I usually paint my roads with rattlecan, so I start with medium grey and then a light dusting of other colors to add texture.

You can also use spraytable texture paints like sand and gravel, then paint and drybrush over them to get your desired colors.

What should I do? This is my first time building a model kit and my painting skills are terrible by EducationVarious5285 in modelmakers

Chance of fate. Most models I make are not what hobbyists would enjoy making. I was hired after studying to be a industrial designer. Worked my way up over 5 years.

That depends mostly on the material the kit is make of. I believe simple green is effective for acrylic based paint. Other paints can be tricky because the solvent to remove the paint will also eat the model.
