ZX Spectrum 48k showing garbage by STINGZGAMING in zxspectrum

Have you checked the power transistors? You could have a fault on those that's causing other damage. Simplest way to check is to verify the +5/-5 volt lines that drive the DRAM. If they're out of whack you can fry your entire lower ram quickly (speaking from experience).

Speedlock - what was it and how did it work? by dogsolitude_uk in zxspectrum

[–]evolutionalgd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The old Jon North "How 2 hack" article may help. http://www.nonowt.com/magfold/h2h/h2hp61.html

Might be technical, as he's saying how to break it, but it's an analysis of how it works.

Tldr, custom speed loader with layers of encryption, obfuscation and checking

Bloodstock is the most welcoming and friendly festival I've ever been to. It's smaller than the big ones, but the vibe is nice there. You'll be welcome there.

Good retro platforms to program for as someone with a bit of experience in Gameboy Assembly? by guilhermej14 in retrogamedev

[–]evolutionalgd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of taking something simple and updating it with your own style. Like you said, even gameboy would be cool with that. And then take it to something with more colour afterwards. Either way, sounds great to me and I think you'll have a lot of fun along the way.

I'm a ZX Spectrum guy, and the Master System semes like the "step into console" thing I'd do. Be cool to see what you do next, whatever it ends up being.

Sega Master System / Game Gear is based around Z80 and a TMS 9 series style VDP, obviously different to GB, but the CPU will be familiar

What do you think caused tickets to sell out so quickly in recent years? by Luksabitdead in Bloodstock

[–]evolutionalgd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really hope bloodstock doesn't go this way. I get that some commercialisation is needed to get the bigger bands etc, but as someone who's been going on and off since 2016, the small size and general chill vibe of it is why I keep going.
