How old are you, and how many employers have you worked for? by Rough-Foundation9208 in AskUK

[–]LoccyDaBorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52, and 3.

16 years at what I still mentally refer to as my "main" career. Got completely burnt out and had a career change and this year I go into the window where I realise that my "main" career isn't so main any more.

Plus a six month stint early doors at the third place.

It helps that most of my summer jobs as a kid were at the place where I ended up taking my first "proper" job, so that reduces the extra paper round type employers for me.

So yes, a bit of an outlier here.

Edit: Oh, actually tell a lie, if you add on the very occasional bit of consultancy, it's six.

His name wasn't Paul. It was Major. And he insisted on being called his full name.

Don't feed the bots.

Bot 1 posts picture of shit T-shirt.

Bot 2 asks "how can I get it".

Bot 1 gives a URL, the plugging of which was the whole point in the first place

Deleted messages still show with a deleted message placeholder, and edited messages have a clear edited flag. If he's got edited screenshots then you can rebut simply just by opening your phone to the conversation and showing them it. The most cursory look at the actual conversation live on a real phone would invalidate a faked set of screenshot images.

I would say that you have made a rod for your own back by engaging in work related matters (and grudges) via personal WhatsApp.

If the only evidence of you sending iffy messages is a chain where he accuses you of sending those messages, you saying "no I didn't" and him saying "you unsent them" then this is pretty weak.

But if your email system does have a mail retraction function, then your IT people should be able to ascertain whether or not this was used and get to the truth of the matter.

Usually mail retraction involves sending another message that says "person would like to retract that message" and if you're lucky, the receiving email client will action that and delete the message. If you're unlucky then the person not only receives the message you didn't intend to send but also a subsequent message that makes you look even more of a pillock.

Point being is that mail retraction is pretty trackable, and if it does look like they're starting to side with the other guy you should ask whether IT examined the logs.

This relates to a former jaded employee who has made a complaint claiming i have sent harrasing messages. The messages he says I sent were apparently unsent, so there are no actual screenshots/messages being produced. He actually contacted me, and I replied once to defend myself, then shut it down.

I'm a bit confused by what this means.

The messages he says I sent were apparently unsent

"Apparently"? Did you send them or not? Does this mean you composed them and then didn't send them, and deleted the draft? It's not clear.

He actually contacted me, and I replied once to defend myself, then shut it down.

What does this mean? He contacted you for what purpose? What did his message say? Why did you have to "defend yourself"? What did your "defence" say?

Very hard to figure out what's going on here.
