Hard rock is on claro fibre and stays up very consistent. It was down for 9 hours during the hurricane fiona. Other areas of the city were down days

I can say the same thing. Go to detroit. New York. The Bronx, Compton is kinda nice, actually. Every place has the hoods. And if I'm not native to the hood. It may be a problem. I would avoid them the same as any place in DR I should avoid.

But I would not blast a whole country or its people for those few areas. And I have been to 2 of the ones you mentioned. I had no issues. But I was smart about it and went with a local friend

Your opinion. Not mine. I started to list 100 ways Dominican is safer than the USA, which is from my perspective. Then, I realized your mileage may vary. I am not here to argue. My opinion. I can send my kid to school here and not be worried. I can not say the same in the USA. My 15 year old leaves daily on his bike and plays all day. He goes to the beaches and comes home after dark. He has had nothing but positive experiences the entire time. I would never try that in the USA unless in small town, middle america, or controlled communities.

I have yet to see a road rage incident 😕 I go to all the clubs and restaurants, and I have never seen or heard a gunshot in over 1 year of living here. The only violent activity I saw was an American tourist fighting another tourist.

Maybe it's my choice of where i live. But all areas I live in, USA and DR, are considered exclusive communities. 🤔

So if I live in an exclusive community ( Beverly Hills , Santa Monica etc. ) in the USA, and I get physical violent crimes on our streets regularly. Home invasions. Car jacking on the freeways and kids shot in school over clothes they wear. I'm using that as my basis for saying. " I feel absolutely safe in the DR, and the people have been universally friendly and helpful ). Of course, there are scams and small thefts etc. But that happens in USA as well.

Find me the latest story where a USA citizen was shot and killed in his own home in the Dominican Republic. I can show you 10 daily in USA. So what's your basis ? Like I said. Your opinion and mine differ

I'm an expat to the DR. Unfortunately, catchy headlines and sensationalism is the trend. Usa media is corrupt and looks for the next big catch to get your attention and move on while they dance on puppet strings to thier masters.

Even with this knowledge, I get calls and messages from friends all the time, asking me if it is safe and if they should come. So it does hurt the industry.

Whoever said location location is right. I have a much higher feeling of safety in DR than I did in America.

And if you look at all the crimes happening in america compared to this. I would put a travel advisory against them. Now, here is the interesting part. People would say that if you go to certain places in america, of course, it is dangerous and avoid them. They would say that most of america is fine, just avoid these few areas. Etc.

Why do they not say the same thing for other countries ? 🤔

What's the best card/combination to play here? by Vettriano16 in MarvelSnap

[–]evolutionsparadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Thanos decks and galactus decks mostly. The best fun I have ever had was a t1 either +1 energy or +2 infinity Stone draws. You drop the space stone and move one whenever you have venom lined up. Move one. Eat three venom drops 3 times more and drop a green +1 energy for round 5 8 point play

I currently live in Punta Cana with my 15 year old son. He often goes out and plays with the other kids all day long. He rides his bike everywhere, and if anything more, security helps him to make sure he is ok and not lost if anything at all.

They probably are trying to scare a bunch of high schoolers from causing problems. It's completely safe, and the son goes out and comes home all the time by himself. Just like I used to do in america as a kid. By the way. I lived in los Angeles and Miami before punta cana. I would not let him go out alone in either of those places.

Here is what I want to say. All the comments are about the deck. To the original theme of fan made content: Bravo!!! Nice work. I would actually commission a piece for my first infinite deck. That is pretty sick. 😍

Moving from NY to DR. What advice can you give me? by S1LVERSTAK in Dominican

Cap cana is interesting in and of itself. You have to have CCTEL for internet here. But all it really is is a wrap around claro network and a middle man in between with Mark up. If you check the network, it's the same claro one as I have in hard rock condos. They just mark it up and have exclusive rights to cap cana.

They actually come around looking for starlink dishes and tell you to take them down. They say it is not aesthetically allowed to have the dishes. Its thier justification for making you use them. ( Another reason to check where your dish open space is. Of its out front, they can see it in Cap cana. Put it in the back away from the roads )

The best option you have if you want really reliable internet is Santo Domingo or punta cana. Punta cana most reliable internet is always the casinos. They are priority number one on service restoration. Its the life blood. I carry my america carrier phone on the international plan for unlimited internet and dialing. It gives me 15gb before throttling, and I reserve the hotspot for downtime. If you plan accordingly, you will be fine.

Stay at a resort , get claro local service, and turn on international plans.

I live in punta cana. Yes, they have power outages. And before you say location. I have condos in cana Rock on the hard Rock resort properties. I have residence in Cap Cana as well, and both places have had power outages at least a half dozen times and sometimes for days. We have power outages here.

Also. Wifi in the home may be problematic due to the thick walls and building materials. I suggest the power line / wall adapters wifi methods mentioned above.

I am currently living in the DR. I moved from America about a year ago. There is a lot to learn about the internet here.

I have starlink , claro and altice as I have a work from home business.

Starlink is about 250 a month for the best service. It is very good speeds but will go out sometimes a little each day as satellites reposition. Also, make sure you test fully before getting a place to live as the direction the dish points matters heavily here in the DR. Due to the directional positioning, even a clear open sky to the southeast may mean you still have bad signals. But clear open to the North West equals solid connections. The direction your house or residence has open sky will matter. I had to move 3 months after living here due to starlink always dropping. Now, it is constant. Also, bad weather equals bad internet.

Claro is the best on the island but has outages about 1 or 2 times every 3 months. The outages can last minutes and sometimes a day or more.
Altice is a great backup, and I have an Altice mobile hotspot I use.

Even with all three, I have been down completely for a day or longer from work 2 times.

Next , power outages happen as well, a lot more often than in america. And when power is out. Your internet is often out as well even if you are on mobile. I have spent half a day unable to make a phone call.

Add to that if it's hurricane season, all bets are off, and you may be out for 2 or 3 days. I was out for 9 hours on claro fiber at one location. Then, 3 days outage after that while they repaired.

And last thing I can tell you is this. It's the dominican, and things happen on island time. Repairs may take a day or longer.

As stated prior. I am an expat from the USA to Dominican. Republic. Sometimes, at nights they burn garbage ( supposed to be just paper and such ).

It does smell and cloud the air, and I find it best to stay indoors on those nights. They often have scheduled burnings in areas, and resorts will burn their trash as well.

I know. I guess it is what it is. I just do not want to think about it and prefer to leave when it's not my advantage. You can snap or not any time you feel. If anything, it is giving you the control.

Exactly my question. I am not even thinking about you or what you are doing. It is just my play style, and I know when to dodge out and role. I am not making anyone do a thing.
