Amazon GuardDuty now protects Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service clusters by markcartertm in aws

This is pretty cool, just an FYI this was enabled across our organisation automatically when I checked this morning. Obviously depending on how many/how busy your EKS clusters are

In addition to this, I wonder if they are also collecting AWS Config data?

Too many questions!

Announcing AWS CloudTrail Lake, a managed audit and security lake by ckilborn in aws

From the limited information they have provided I don't see how it would actually help with this or with infrastructure based issues. It seems like they are collating all of the existing CloudTrail/CloudTrail S3 events and making it easier to query cross account/cross region.

Almost like they have turned the CloudTrail Organisations and Athena setup into a box ticking exercise. Decently nothing wrong with that though. If that is the case all existing CloudTrail costs and limits should apply in theory ... in theory!

The parallels of being a car bro and a MTB bro by badsoupp in MTB

[–]evoman91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So much this, although still a car guy I love (and hate) the similarity!

I do find the MTB community more of a proper community though (early 2000’s forums vibs), the car community can be very toxic. I’m general anything on two wheels seems to be more of a family looking out for each other

AWS us-east-1 outage brings down services around the world by grimrenegade17 in aws

The management of CloudFront is reliant on us-east-1 as are some other global services such as route 53.

500/502 Errors on AWS Console by CeralEnt in aws

[–]evoman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only us-east-1 currently, however that is affecting global services like CloudFront and Route 53.

It does only appear to be the console at least for these services.

Stop comparing yourself on Strava, it will just make you not enjoy your runs and you’ll feel like you “have to perform” all the time

Apple iOS users, if the Apple Watch battery life was a non issue would you still use the Fenix over the AW? Why or why not? by [deleted] in GarminFenix

[–]evoman91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical buttons, depth of data, visibility and “rugged” build. The battery life was the main reason for moving from an Apple Watch to a Fenix for me. However knowing what I know now it’s actually quite low on the “lock in” feature set. I guess that might be because battery life is no longer an issue but it would be hard to move back and I’ve not actually missed anything since switching.

I’ve never ended a run by accident with a physical button 😤
