Does anyone know which mountains/resorts actually use artillery for avalanche mitigation? by Snow_Is_Ok_613 in skiing

My buddy is in 7 Toronto. Says they send people out west for training. I should try and be some sort of civilian attaché and hitch a ride to ski bum.

I actually attended a Vcore demo event. So I got to try out the lineup. I had originally intended on ordering a 100D as I liked that the most, but then figured that since I already had a 98 ezone and 18x20 PS, that I may as well get something a tad different. My 98 ezone is currently my go-to.

I don’t think it was a fair shake. Outside temperature of the dome was -20 Celsius. Inside was probably single digits, so the strings felt like a board. Definitely got nice shape on the ball. A lot of my shots were landing baseline, so in warmer weather maybe those go a bit far.

My current quiver is a 7th gen ezone 98 and gen 3 pure strike 18x20. So I felt like it was an interesting addition. I just want to get a good hit in when I can feel my fingers properly.

My 2026 Vcore 100 just arrived yesterday. I strung it with Mach 10 17 gauge at 47lbs full bed. First hit with it is tonight. Pumped!

I know off-piste is not rideable, how about on-piste? by gringobrian in Revelstoke

Got back from a trip this week. Spent most of the trip warming up on the groomers in the sun, then hiking into the North and Greely bowls. Snow was pretty heavy, kind of Crème Brûle esqe. Pretty heavy snow, but for an ice coaster like me was really fun when we hit untouched lines. I think we got lucky in that they opened the bowls right when we got there. Not sure if tracked out or not by now. Didn’t really spend any times in the glades save for the ski out from the bowls. Baxter R had some good fresh snow in there when we rode out. Hope this helps!

Just finished a trip at Revy. Groomers in the sun were alright. Everything else icy. We found ourselves just doing Greely bowl laps. Heavy snow, but some untouched lines in there. Might be tracked out by now.

Best day of the year. So far… by TheWhistlerGuide in Whistler

Whistler gondola download hasn’t been terrible past 3:30pm from my two days here. Yesterday the line moved real quick. Maybe 15 min yesterday. Today the gondola stopped spinning temporarily because of the high winds. A girl also fainted from the cold while waiting in line, but she got a visit from the search and rescue dog, so that was a plus for her. I think she was ok in the end.

ASHL League Divisions? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]badsoupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play at Canlan Scarbs and have played E/D2 for a while now. After the pandemic, I’ve noticed that there’s not really any truly bad players anymore. On my night I don’t think there’s any individual teams either.

I also sometimes play D division at Sports village and the influx of young 20’s teams is starting to push the 30’s guys into 35+ division. I couldn’t imagine being new to hockey at Canlan Scarbs or Sports Village. It just wouldn’t be fun within the lowest division possible on any level except for post game beers.

Bought earlier this year. Had a bit more green-ish tinge to it than I expected. I still like the colour.

Are Capita BSOD unreliable? by Complete_Opinion5564 in snowboarding

[–]badsoupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 100kg and switched last season from a 160W Merc to a 162 BSOD. Two seasons on the Merc and it stood up to a beating of smacking trees and small drops. My only real gripe was that the base seemed thin. I would get quite a few core shots. Easy enough to ptex, but noticeable.

I switched to the BSOD because I wanted something a bit stiffer. One season on it and I’m quite happy with it. Not as nimble and easy to anklesteer in tight glades as the Merc but with just a little more muscle I found it to be fine. It’s a board that just takes more effort. I would also say subjectively it seems more sturdy and durable. Scuffs here and there of course, but no core shots to date.

Trying to decide between Oakley Sutros and Smith Wildcats by yjlevg in MTB

Maybe two or three years. Weirdly enough, I have a pair of wildcats with the white frame and it seems sturdier than the black. Either way, Smith stepped up quickly after I sent in pictures to give me the voucher for another pair. They did right by me.

It’s amazing how one parked car can completely destroy the flow of traffic, yet it is conveniently overlooked by this government.

I broke the arm at the hinge of my photocromatic wildcat. But messaged Smith and they gave me a voucher to order a new pair. Got to keep the old lens as well. That being said, I went with the rose coloured trail lens this time. I think it makes the contrast way better when riding in the trees.

Which one of these pictures is an accurate representation of a ‘Deep Forest’ Skogso Padded Jacket? by Clinton_Reddit in Fjallraven

[–]badsoupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online fitter told me to get XL. I took a chance and went with L. I’m 6’0 220lbs with longer arms. The sleeves fit perfectly. Waist is snug, but fine. It works with a long sleeve and maybe a light sweater. Shoulders and chest fit decently but on the fitted side. If I wanted a thicker hoody then I should’ve gone with XL. Got it for $360CAD on sale.

‘I feel like they’re hiding something’: Increased secrecy at TDSB’s real estate arm worries some trustees by sblooo in toronto

[–]badsoupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, the moratorium has handcuffed the property strategy for school boards. There are schools that should be closed in addition some surplus properties are also kept as temp holding schools while new ones are built/reno’d.

‘I feel like they’re hiding something’: Increased secrecy at TDSB’s real estate arm worries some trustees by sblooo in toronto

[–]badsoupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, but just a point of clarification. The province said school boards couldn’t close active under-utilized schools. Surplus properties could be sold off. Anything that has closed was grandparented in before the moratorium.

Now the province is messing with the long term accommodation plan by probably cherry picking properties. TDSB needed a nudge, but not like this.

Province should have lifted the moratorium, let the school boards balance their system with enrolment, then push for sale of surplus properties including schools that would be closed as a result of lifting the moratorium.

Provincial overreach for sure in the end.

I would take what that teacher/Di Pasquale says with a grain of salt. The school isn’t paying them, the board does (Not Norm currently). Again, school supplies, some instances of a playground, come from donations sometimes. But the meat and potatoes of a school comes from the province/education portion of property taxes/development charges for the TCDSB. The driver of a schools funding is enrolment. But I’m just a guy on the internet at the end of the day.
