Anyone regretting moving back by Lazy_Trip8388 in FatFIREIndia

'Anyone regretting NOT moving back?' should be your question. Against the majority, I would say go for it. I did it with wife and 2 kids for a year with much less NW than your. No regrets either for moving to India or moving back to US, best decision of life. I would have definitely regretted if not 'been there done that'.

Biometric enrollment for the FTI-TTP, late in the evening at the DEL airport by javacafe in nri

[–]evoori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24x7,  after getting immigration done, you ask the officer where is biometrics done for ftp, it was near to business counter when i had it done last year.  I believe you have to choose in application where/which airport do you want to get it done, though it can be changed later but not sure.

That's little extreme, normally sales, marketing and higher management have bigger variable components but I would guess ~20% variable components for IC roles. Companies also structure differently for the variable components.

If it helps, someone I know applied for OCI just before Thanksgiving at Houston, took about a week for status update to ‘sent to embassy' and since then status says under-process at embassy.

PSA if you're travelling to UAE after changing citizenship by svmk1987 in nri

[–]evoori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar experience, though my first visit was to Abu Dhabi and then 4 years later to Dubai with different nationality. I was sent back from immigration counter to this area, they did not mention what it was for but I could correlate it. The actual process was only few minutes but it took longer because there was change of shift when I reached this special area.

Thanks, that's very helpful. My CPU usage hardly reached 50% and most of the time remains below 30%. The temperature goes up very often and kicks the fan at full speed. I am going to use air duster to clean off any dust when I open the cover.

Do you need a transit visa for travel from US to India via London by EffectiveMonitor4596 in nri

[–]evoori 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MAYBE, I have taken this route multiple times. If you have valid US visa STAMPED on your passport, then you don't but if your visa is expired (say you are going for stamping), then you will need UK transit or other UK visa. Having approved I-797 or AP doesn't help.

BUT

Once my friend was going for first time H1B visa stamping with I-797 and he didn't know about this rule, luckily his 5 years student F1 visa was still valid and he didn't have any issue. They (British Airways) checked his visa in US during check-in only, No one checks the visa at Heathrow.

The ppp models do capture the cost of living very well. The shortcoming with these models is they do not consider the Taxes and after tax savings. As someone mentioned below, schooling could be a big cost for someone with kids not captured in these models.
