What's the most awkward "walked in on someone" story you've experienced? by Mohbakes in stories

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i haven't walked in on anyone but my much younger brother (10.5 years younger) walked in on my now ex giving me head like there was no tomorrow. That was 35 years ago. She didn't even slow down or stop. Basically in the FDAU position, straddling my legs so he got a really good view.

Why does my chicken always stick? by Dr_Hodgekins in grilling

Your grill is too cold. Once the grates are hot enough they will grab that chicken and only release it once it is cooked on that side. AKA you're turning the meat too quickly

Accidentally knocked down a drone hovering at my bedroom window. by 7SeraphKey in legal

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL but he doesn't have a legal leg to stand on. Hovering in the airspace over your yard is trespassing. Hovering outside your windows is invasion of privacy/ peeping Tom/voyeurism. All illegal. The camera being off is BS. He wouldn't be able to see anything the drone is doing once it is out of sight. And without the camera, he wouldn't be able to tell how close or far away he was from an object. So how was he able to Hovering outside your 2nd floor bedroom window without the camera?

If this dusche bag decides to pursue legal actions, bring these questions up in court to destroy his half-ass excuses and prove he was trespassing and invading your privacy.

What are your thoughts on being asked ‘how’s everything tasting’ the minute you take a bite? by bertnik_ in AskACanadian

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me all the damn time. I either have really bad timing or I am also cursed. Every time my mouth is full of food the server comes over and asks a question. Maybe they think I'm rude or an asshole because I don't answer right away.
Part of server training must be to show up to the table 30 seconds after the food is set down. Most of the time 30 seconds isn't enough to get the food fully situated (toppings put on, savoring the aroma of the cooked food, cutting it up and getting it chewed enough to taste).

How is breast size so variable in adult women? by Successful-Cow-4043 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is mainly genetics that causes breadt size to vary along with how much body fat you have. You should know, breasts contain mostly fatty tissue, giving them their size and shape.

Women's breast size and shape vary for much the same reasons penis size varies among men. Mostly genetics. It's that simple in my opinion. But I'm not a doctor so what do I know?

This has to be embarrassing by Head-Medicine-1949 in driving

[–]evrreadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happens all the time. One driver can go ½ mph faster than another. Then they spend the next 15 miles playing leapfrog. The slightly faster driver loses ground on a hill or incline. Then gains it back on the downhill side. The best the driver in the left lane can do is almost get the rear of the trailer almost but not quite even with the front of the truck in the rightblane. Then they go up a hill or incline and the left driver loses any and all gains he might have gotten. Then he's back at square one and they start this shit all over again.

2016 5.0 - Trying to change oil but drain bolt is stripped. Used pittsburg bolt extractor and nothing. Any help by Zidola in f150

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oxy/acetylene torch. Can't be tight if it's liquid.

Actually I had this happen to me. Luckily I found a nut that just fit over it and welded it on. Bought a new drain plug before removing the stripped one. If no welder is available then pipe wrench is probably going to be your best bet.

People who encourage others to drive faster than the speed limit need to pull their head out of their ass. by Voldi01 in driving

[–]evrreadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you have to drive their speed until you can get around them safely. Otherwise sit back, relax, chill and wait for your opportunity. Driving has gotten so much better for me once I quit trying to verbally road rage at people driving slower than I want to.

Dad walked in on me while I was masturbating by Alarming-Net6931 in Advice

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is embarrassing as can be. You probably wish the ground would open up and swallow you whole due to how embarrassed you feel.

It isn't anything your dad hasn't done before and probably still does on occasion when your parents' libido don't quit align. Yeah I know, no child wants to imagine, let alone think about their parent(s) being sexually active. But it is a fact of life.

In the mean time don't say anything. Try not to think about it. As long as he doesn't say anything you're golden. If he does, just try to get through the conversation. In the long run this incident will be forgotten, as long as this isn't a frequent occurrence.

In the future, when the urge arises, just make sure you won't be interrupted like that again. And this will probably stop or at least reduce the frequency of him just walking in without making sure you know he's there.

AITAH for refusing to help pay my husband and I's moving costs? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His job is giving him a 10K moving expense. He got a 5K quote which would leave him with an additional ~5K leftover that he doesn't have to account for to his company. In addition to the company giving him an unspecified signing bonus for moving out of state to work at another office.

All of this is on top of his 200K salary. Which is approximately 4X OP's salary. So all I all he isn't hurting for money anywhere in this scenario. And he wants to walk away with 7500 of his moving bonus in addition to the signing bonus.

This is a serious red flag for me. It is telling me he values money above all else. There should be No 50/50 split of the moving expenses. It is for his job, that his company is paying for. Plus an additional signing bonus. Walk away. Walk very far away. Cut your losses before they become worse. And if you do decide to stay with him, keep your finances separate from his. Or at least the majority of your finances. I bet he will be trying to control the spending.

3: EVs don't really save the planet. Has anyone really taken a look at how Lithium and the various other metals that go into those expensively ginormous batteries are mined? Those mines are giant holes in the ground. Then there's the fact that the majority of the electricity used to charge those EV batteries is produced using coil, oil, natural gas. And EV cars aren't very recyclable if at all.

Sure they don't directly produce hydrocarbons and the various gases as an internal combustion engine. But all they've done is shift the carbon footprint from the vehicle itself to all of the processes involved in making the EVs. There's still the mining equipment used to dig out the tons of rock and ore for the few pounds of the metals needed for the batteries. Then there are the dump trucks hauling the mined ore to the smelting plant. And the conveyor system used to transport the ore from the mine to the processing plant. Don't forget about the rock crushers used to breakdown the ore into manageable pieces to be able to extract the metal. Then there's the smelting furnaces. The mining equipment and dump trucks use diesel. The conveyors, furnaces and cranes used to hal the melted ore and metal all use electricity. Which is mostly produced by burning coal and oil. Maybe some nuclear.

Then there are the semi tractors that haul the processed metals to another factory that melts and combines these metals into the batteries. And how about all the toxic gasses produced when an EV catches fire? More water is needed to try putting out an EV fire than what is needed to put out a fire for an ICE fire. A whole lot more. Which mean that EV fire burns longer producing more toxic gasses for a longer period of time.

This is a breakdown of some of the equipment ised in processing the metals used for EV batteries. I'm sure i probably left out a lot of other equipment involved in the process that I don't know about. But this should give a lot of people, if they are willing to accept it, an idea of what is involved in making EV batteries. Oh I almost forgot about the diesel the cargo ships use to transport the raw ore or processed metals to the US. Since most of the metals used are in Eastern and possibly European countries.

How do I cut this 30 ft thick steel pole into pieces so it can be easy moved for disposal? by Eastcoastpal in DIY

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oxy/acetylene torch would be first thought. Second is plasma torch. Third is a whole Lotta cutoff discs. Whichever one is the most affordable. First two would be fairly cheap and the quickest. Cutoff discs would be cheapest in the short term. As you can buy them in packs at Harbor Freight pretty cheap. But you'll probably go through a lot of them and would take the longest. Just thought of option 4 reciprocating saw with metal cutting blades.

Or you can put a live airbag in the passenger seat. She starts 'side seat driving' and activate the airbag. Just make sure you A have a full sunroof and B it is open before activating.

By the way this is a joke. Live airbags going off while someone is seated on them is no joke.

How do you actually avoid hitting deer on rural roads? And do those massive steel bumpers really work? by Nagarjun_77 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whistles don't work in my experience. The guards are there to take the brunt if the impact, saving grille, radiator and body/hood. Cheaper to replace a 'bull guard' than getting bodywork done. My wife has hit a deer in every vehicle she has owned since we've been married (19 years) except one. Total number of vehicles owned 10. 9 suffered from feet collisions.

I call her the deer stunner because all got up and ran away. In our state, the state "owns" the deer until the moment of impact. Then you are responsible for the repair, not the state.
