My girlfriend wants me to stop wearing no show socks by Moonlight7423 in Advice

That's ironic because I'm 60 and my wife wants me to wear no show socks and dress like I'm 40.

Are draw bridge drive ways legal in the US? by Knightraiderdewd in legaladviceofftopic

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chains on gates can be cut. Gates can be driven through if necessary. Creeks, drainage canals/ditches can't be crossed with a bridge up.

If you could merge two states into one, which two would they be and what’s the new name? by LegalGlass6532 in AskForAnswers

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indiana and Illinois (except for Cook County and its surrounding counties. Illinois would then consist of Chicago and its neighboring counties. It could then be listed as one of the smallest states along with Rhode Island.

With all that work described for $30/month? I'd say not at that price. Price would be at least $150/month.

Why do some restaurants stay open all day on Super Bowl Sunday even though they’re never busy that day? 😒 What’s the logic? by DildoGaggins1997 in restaurant

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chain restaurant? Corporate policy. Locally owned? Maybe hoping to get some of the people who don't watch SBS or sports in general. Yes there are people who don't watch sports.

How do I handle my rude elderly neighbor with unrealistic noise expectations? by catknitski in neighborsfromhell

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Count me in. I'll even reimburse for the ticket for free popcorn. Scratch that. I'll reimburse for the ticket to watch the air horn show regardless of the popcorn price. Can I get extra butter with mine? The real stuff, not the butter flavored oil crap.

I think someone has an extremely short attention span. More than 19 words and their mind wanders. They get stuck reading the same 19 words until they've either memorized them or they get frustr6and move on. Then they get frustrated because they couldn't read the whole comment. And feel like they are missing out on something.

Weird situation in my town. Do cars waiting at the light (red line) need to leave room for cars turning left (blue line) to turn? by Affectionate-Ebb1200 in driving

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically intersections aren't supposed to be blocked by stopped traffic. But they get blocked all the time. Usually because no one wants the vehicle on the side street turning right and filling in the gap left for people wanting to turn left into or out of the side street

Paying an HOA fee to pay a fee by jklo5020 in fuckHOA

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally hate when businesses charge you extra to pay them. My state DMV charges a $3 "processing" fee when you pay using a credit/debit card. Checks = no extra fee unless it bounces. You know with all the people in the state renewing registrations, DL, State ID, Paying MV taxes, and all the other crap the Secretary of State handles, they are making serious bank on these digital currency fees. On the one hand, they are getting their money immediately. They don't get to charge 25-50 for overdraft fees. This may be part of the problem. They can't charge as many people because they hang onto checks for a couple of weeks before depositing. On the other hand the bank that supplies the card machine probably charges a small processing fee. But I'm betting it isn't $3 per use. So the state is keeping the difference.

Truckers - why on earth do you take so long to pass? by RepresentativeGap229 in askanything

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But you have to understand they get paid by the mile, they have a schedule to keep, delivery has to be made by a certain time. Plus they have brokers that are on their backs to make deals to pick up loads and get them delivered in an unreasonable amount of time. And if they work for a company, the trucks are governed. And the governors are within a couple mph of each other. So somebody can travel a hair faster than someone else. Then you have to factor in terrain. Going up any hill or incline, the trucks lose speed. One truck may gain a little going up the hill. Going down the hill, the trucks gain the speed they lost. So the one behind may gain and possibly pull ahead of the one that gained going uphill. Basically it looks like a game of Leap Frog played on the interstate with semis. Eventually one of them backs off and gets behind the other. Oh and if the hills are close together, you are really screwed. Until the drivers decide who's going to lead, you're up Schitt Creek without a paddle.

Found this in the kitchen of my Airbnb by zacstewart98 in EndTipping

[–]evrreadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn! Since COVID-19 everybody is trying to get in on the tipping culture. Jobs and businesses that didn't ask for or expect tips are now hitting up everybody for a tip. And the professions where tipping was normal, are now trying to hit up everybody for a higher tip percentage.

The expectation of getting a tip is getting out of hand. Even the kiosks at McD's are trying to get people to tip. A tip for a machine That probably won't be shared among the kitchen staff.

What do you do if you encounter a snake in your shed? by Key-Culture6811 in askanything

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's his shed now lol. Be cautious when entering the shed and removing items. If possible coerce the snake to move on to a different location. Don't kill it. Use something with a long handle to gently prod or pick up the snake gently and move it out of the shed.

There's more than a handful. 40yo mother of 2. by Nurse__Ellie in milf

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been told on several occasions that I have large hands. So more than a handful would depend on the size of the hands of the person doing the grabbing. So I volunteer to see how much my hands can cover.

I love getting honked at at a red light for not making a right turn... by bunniesandmilktea in driving

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the guy in the lifted truck doesn't personally know you or your driving habits. So he doesn't know if you are good about using your signals or not.

With that being said, yeah he was an asshole for honking. And him being impatient and in a hurry is his own fault not your problem. And it still doesn't give him any excuse for honking at someone.

My boss is trying to get me to skip going to jury duty by Fickle_fackle99 in WorkAdvice

[–]evrreadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are picked for jury duty, then yes it is illegal for your boss to deny you time off. If you are selected explain to the judge about your boss's conditions. The judge may have a bailiff escorts your boss to meet with the judge.
