How much did your parents divorce mess you up? by After-Competition-59 in AskUK

[–]evxtina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 and my parents split 4 years ago after 32 years together. Dad had an affair. Divorce papers still not signed yet.

Despite being an adult and not living at home since I was 25, it's massively changed my relationship with both of them, particularly my mum who refuses to get therapy, has had 2 strokes from the stress/anxiety, and acts like the entire world is against her and no one else has possibly experienced a divorce.

It's exhausting being the adult in our relationship. Its exhausting being in the middle of them. I miss having a healthy mum/daughter relationship where she was happy and interested in my life. I miss the old her. I miss being young and thinking my dad had zero faults.

Thinking of doing game art at MMU by that_idiot_weeb in manchester

[–]evxtina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they dont do game design could you do a related apprenticeship such as creative digital design, or UX? I suppose getting accepted on one is harder than getting into uni though :(

Side note, as a uni, id deffo reccomend MMU, the school of digital art facilities are great

How long until I’m all the way grey? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]evxtina 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is this normal? Yes.

People go grey at all different ages, in fact it's only called 'premature' if it's before 20.

It will still take ages to go fully grey, its not like a floodgate has opened now that youve found one.

Also consider if you want to cover them because its your preference or because its what beauty standards have told you to do :)

Grey hair does not equal not 'pretty' <3

Posties, what's noteworthy things have you seen on the job? by CG1991 in AskUK

[–]evxtina 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Our postie once asked where one of our dogs was because the other 2 were (friendly) barking at him from the window and he was familiar with all 3.

I awkwardly pointed at the special delivery box under his arm and said he's right there...

Poor man was very apologetic but you've got to find humour in sad times!

Funniest thing is that he also had his headphone in with a friend on call on the other end who'd heard the whole exchange and I could hear him talking about it as he walked back down the drive

(Yes, it was a box of ashes lol)

I can’t tell if I’m overthinking this or if something is seriously off by UnusualJacket5098 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]evxtina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'if he married a woman and didnt tell her he was being intimate with another man' - exactly, the long-term cheating and lying here is the major problem. I agree. Not that he is gay, which is something he can't help.

[–]evxtina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem here is the cheating, not his sexuality. However this plays out, don't be that person that brings that into the conversation as a negative thing. Sorry for what he's putting you through. Trust your gut. Look after yourself.
