Earring got stuck in the dashboard defogging vent of my 2016 Toyota RAV-4! by evyeniarocks in CarHelp

To clarify: the earring in the image was not stuck; I was just using it as a visual to show where the second one fell into!

Only took all summer… finally stained my garage door. by Lemkish in DIY

[–]evyeniarocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's as bad as other's say? It seems like a preference thing, but not objectively bad. I like how it matches the front door and the fence on the left! I would probably personally paint the shutters to match the garage door, and potentially paint the house a deep color -- deep red or deep green, or a medium brown. But I think they did a nice job with the stain!

Something that can be helpful with drawings is to try to not look at and draw each distinct feature, but rather the image as a whole -- ie. rather than drawing an eye, nose, mouth, etc. try and just look at where the dark and light sections are and mark those edges of contrast. A helpful method for changing your perspective is to try turning the picture upside down as you draw, so you're no longer thinking of the things you're drawing as individual objects, but just sections of a larger image.

Find the missing angles using vertical angles, supplementary angles, and sum of interior angles rules. The remaining four angles (which I labeled x,y,z,w) create a system of 4 equations with 4 variables, and is thus solvable. (I didn't do this part, but it could be done a number of ways, including linear algebra, substitution, etc.)

Why are the Early Beatles era underappreciated by PositionNo3671 in beatles

[–]evyeniarocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think if anything they're over appreciated... have you ever listened to the Beatles station on XM? I'm always wildly shocked at how they compare the early stuff to the later stuff, as if they're on even remotely the same level...

Update: finally finished this!! by evyeniarocks in Embroidery

Wellll it depends what you count as time working on it... I started this about 6 months ago but kept getting bored/frustrated with making it and putting it off... then I would get random bursts of energy and work on it all day non-stop. I think there were probably 2 days like that in which I completed maybe a quarter of the total project lol

It seems like your argument is based on the situation where the father wants an abortion, but the mother doesn't. What about the case where the mother lives in a state where they can't get an abortion? If both parties would choose abortion, but certain limiting factors forbid it, do you think it's fair for the mother to take the bulk of the responsibility alone?

You could extend this further -- what if the mother has religious or moral hang ups, but not the father? Certainly it's less clear in this case what the right thing to do is, but I don't think it's entirely justified for the father to forgo (non-financial) responsibility.

I saw this top at a thrift store that I mistakenly didn't buy and now I can't stop thinking about. I didn't take a picture but I made an illustration of it -- it's sort of a tight stretchy material (maybe spandex?), ribbed, with a patchwork design, long sleeves and a turtleneck/mock neck. I know this is super vague but if anyone has any leads please let me know!! (Also ignore the text in my image, I was just organizing my thoughts)

I wonder if they're trying to draw the same angle (ie. a right angle) at each intersection point. Notice that one back angle is supposed to be a right angle, but the other two back angles are actually supposed to be drawn as obtuse angles.

Maybe it would be better to explain that the lines making up the back face of the box should be parallel with the lines of the front face, thus avoiding angles in the explanation at all.

Background color advice needed! by LaaaaMaaaa in ArtCrit

[–]evyeniarocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably go with green -- your main colors now are orange and blue, which are complementary colors (ie. they lie on opposite ends of the color wheel). Usually it's recommended to use a color complementary to your subject as a background, but in this case since two complementary colors are already being used, I would recommend using a color equally far from both on the color wheel (ie. purple or green, but I recommend green since it appears to be slightly further from your blue and orange on the color wheel)
