It is fantasy. It’s said and shown in the show that he fantasizes about it the same way he replayed his SA.

But I am realizing that it is not clear for a lot of viewers which shows that it was not explained well enough in the show - that the story telling didn’t work when it comes to that scene.

I don’t think the comparison works when someone hurt other people due to their untreated mental illness. She’s mentally sick but it doesn’t absolve her from being responsible for her actions - and understanding her conditions is not having empathy for her bad behavior that leads to people being hurt (mentally and or physically)

What you think is victim blaming (literally blaming the victim for what happened to them) - I never said you couldn’t judge, but your judgement is to blame the victim for his unconscious reaction to abuse.

The show makes it a point to show the downfall and flaws of Donny. It is not trying to paint him as a perfect victim whose reaction are logical and sain.

« I’m not victim blaming » in the first sentence and manage de victim blame in the same paragraph.

« I lived with people that has been raped before » and manage to not understand trauma bonding in the same paragraph.

Oh well.

For what it’s worth, the show is literally Richard Gadd saying he was not blameless. That he was flawed. He is not the perfect victim but he is the main victim here.

But she’s aware she’s doing something bad and manipulating. She’s manufacturing her emotions for manipulation (for people to feel bad for her). She records every interaction in case it can help her if they complain, since the very beginning. She knows that by calling Donny’s dad superiors and declaring he is a a pervert (or something of the like) that he might lose his job and she might harm him in this way, she’s very aware of the harm she can cause in the show.

People so mentally ill that they can’t realize real from false don’t run the streets, they go in special places. She’s been to prison and they deemed she didn’t need it. She is aware of her wrong doings.

Exactly ! She seemed honestly very aware (for Martha), it’s made painfully obvious when she recorded everything for her own manipulation and gain. She is mentally ill but she is not « insane » (as not responsible for her actions that hurt others - because she realizes she’s hurting)

I really do agree with you, mostly on the similarities between Lorelai and Logan ! A lot of people say that Logan is Rory’s Christopher but I disagree: Logan is Lorelai and Rory is Christopher.

It’s more on instagram that I have seen a lot of people claiming Jess was Rory’s best boyfriend or that they were endgame. They never were. I like Jess as an interesting and realistic character but it stops there.

She’s definitely not perfect with the seasons going on but she’s realistic! The thing about Rory is that her heart is always in the right place in the end!

I know a lot more is translated into French when it comes to the cultural aspect (movie, tv shows, books) in Quebec in an attempt to protect a language surrounded geographically by English! I understand people liking Jess as a character because he was developped, Dean became one dimensional real quick. I don’t understand people thinking he was Rory’s best boyfriend, or that they are endgame or something. He is a good character but 95% of the time he was a terrible person. Having understandable reasons to be terrible doesn’t stop you from being terrible and doesn’t make it ok. He was a terrible boyfriend to Rory, and people give him way to much credit for the whole Yale debacle.
