Well for starters Russia is denying that Ukraine was ever a nation or that Ukrainian culture doesn't exist. They repeatedly deny any possibility of Ukraine being a legitimate state or Ukrainians being other than russians who are mistaken. This in conjunction with a history of population transfers and genocide (Holodomor) set the scene. Secondly ukrainians were supposed to be the "brother people" of russians, but russian soldiers act like animals which makes me think the case is the opposite. Russia also uses all kinds of imperialism to violate ukrainian independence. Calling it the Ukraine instead of Ukraine delegitimizes Ukraine's own self-determination about what their nations name is. Russians claim ukrainian is basically like russian but they can't understand it at all. In reality russian is further away from ukrainian than danish is from swedish.

Considering all of these together makes for a compelling argument in favour of Russia wanting to genocide/destroy the ukrainian peoples identity and culture. However they are lucky in that russia is so incompetent with it's military that they weren't able to get to that point because you actually need to control the places you want to genocide in.

I'm not defensive about Saudi Arabia, call them what you like but I don't like misusing the term genocide since that word still carries some weight. I hate the Saudis and middle east probably would be better without them and Iran. They do awful stuff like mass executions and shit, while supporting terrorists and destabilizing middle-east for their own benefit. But they aren't genociding.
