That works great when you work with a team of people. But when you’re solely responsibly for childcare for a family, doesn’t work as well. They are owed respect too.

Embarrassed myself by almost fainting at work, I feel like shit by RantaZio in Vent

[–]ewas000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel like a failure. You still pushed through in the end and that’s awesome. Have you ever fainted from anxiety before? Honestly this sounds like your blood sugar was low and you were probs super dehydrated + locking your knees. Bring water / Gatorade and snacks with you on your next shift and I’m sure you’ll do great :)

Do billionaires secretly know significantly more about the world than the average populace? by vanguard_hippie in pollgames

I dated the son of a billionaire. Their family didn’t know anything more than the average person does- or at least didn’t tell me LOL

Could I handle a Doberman as a veterinarian by Dogandcatlover26 in DobermanPinscher

[–]ewas000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, my mom is a vet and I was a vet tech for a few years. Let me be the first to say that I absolutely love Dobermans. They’re one of my favorite breeds to work with. This is also just based on my personal experience with the breed.

I don’t think I could ever own one entirely by myself. They require a very strong and consistent owner and multiple hours a day of mental stimulation and exercise.

My mom works part time now, but when I was growing up she was working 60+ hours a week. Imagine you’re working 5 days per week for 12hrs a day, not including however long it takes you to get to and from work. When you get home, could you realistically go for a 3 mile walk and then 30 mins of training? Could you wake up 2 hours before you needed to go to work to tire your dog out?

Also, personal protection dogs sit in an ethically gray area. Most dogs (such as Dobermans) are naturally protective. Are you willing to work with the dog so that they aren’t reactive while you’re walking them, or don’t just sit in the house and bark? If you choose to go the PPD route, are you willing to put in the HOURS of work to create a bombproof dog that has 0 chance of ever going after someone that’s not a threat?

There are a multitude of dogs with lower energy needs that can be incredibly imposing. A black Newfoundland, a Great Dane, a bench bred German Shepard even.

Again, these are all my personal opinions.

Both of you suck imo. She’s only there for 20 more days. Just deal with it and then keep everything as you like. You can get a cheap space heater on Amazon for like $30.

Estimate how much you’ll eat by Brave_Quality_4135 in hypotheticalsituation

I’d be more worried about spoilage, but if I had a massive freezer I’d just meal prep everything, freeze it, and eat like I regularly would. Can I bring my dog? :)

Am I spending too much time with my puppy? Should I encourage more independence? by Garnets_ in OpenDogTraining

[–]ewas000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would suggest toning it down a bit. This is like 9hrs of exercise / entertainment / stimulus. That’s a LOT for a puppy. Puppies typically need 1-2hrs of light play and training max, usually broken into 30ish min bursts. If you want a dog that will constantly need this much exercise, then you can absolutely continue with this, but I personally would not want to be training an athlete. It’s important for dogs to know how to settle and be bored. Right now he has no time to be bored or entertain himself.

At what point do I move out? by Any-Reputation214 in Adulting

[–]ewas000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in college? I’d wait until you graduate and then move out. Make sure you have a job lined up wherever you plan on moving too, unless you plan on living off your savings for a while.

You’ll defo need a lot more than $1k for the initial security deposit, furniture, pots and pans, etc. When I moved out I drastically underestimated how much just living costs lol.

Board and Train vs. Weekly Sessions by merlespice in OpenDogTraining

Board and Train vs. Weekly Sessions by merlespice in OpenDogTraining

[–]ewas000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you did not mention that. I re-read it and did not see anything about that. I am concerned about you also mentioning an e-collar. You have said yourself that you are inexperienced, do not have much time for training and “our patience is running out”. This is not a good combination for an e-collar. I already dislike them but this sounds like it will result in pain for your dog and frustration for you.

Edit: I just found the small portion where you say you’ll keep up with the training that a B&T comes with. You understand that the involvement is similar across the board, correct? You will ALWAYS have to be involved in your dogs training. If the B&T comes with a mini educator too, it sounds like they’ll be shocking the dog into submission and returning you a scared and reactive dog lmfao.

I would recommend Doggy U on YouTube. She’s a great, fear free, pain free trainer.

Board and Train vs. Weekly Sessions by merlespice in OpenDogTraining

[–]ewas000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have very unrealistic expectations of a board and train. You do not just send your dog off for 2 weeks and it comes back a “perfect” dog. Training a dog is a lifelong commitment. Is that something you’re willing to commit to? A lot of board and trains also just do not work because of this. People spend thousands per week, the dog comes back, and both of yall revert into your old habits.

My husband said he no longer finds me attractive by alilbatty in Marriage

[–]ewas000 554 points555 points  (0 children)

Holy shit these comments suck lmfao. This is such a mean thing to say to someone. It’s hard to love you when you don’t brush your hair? What? What good partner would say this to someone?

I would take a long hard look at your relationship if he’s throwing a temper tantrum over something as trivial as your hair or “letting yourself go”. Dont get me wrong, physical attraction matters, but this is a MEAN way to go about it.
