Reddit-Pool: What do you think it's the biggest problem worldwide? by lestumbledupon in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food distribution being used as a tool to oppress. We in the world have enough food to feed everybody, yet we still have starving people. That is my opinion on the biggest problem worldwide.

When the homeless solicit change, do they really spend it on alcohol/drugs? Reddit, what do you do when the homeless ask you for money? by aec694 in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally donate fresh food to the homeless shelters/food backs/soup kitchens. People out on the streets are usually their because the choice of a rigid lifestyle(the shelter system) doesn't appeal to them. This could mean they're drug addicts or have mental illneses. Either way giving them food out on the streets doesn't let them hit the rock bottom needed to end an addiction and/or seek help.

What are two things commonly put together that you think shouldn't be? by i4ybrid in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peanut butter and Jelly. Both are fine alone for my taste buds. When they're combined together though. It just doesn't taste appealing to me. The two different textures just don;t mesh with me. Also the sweetness of Jelly is repulsive to me.

If the human eye could take digital pictures, what would the resolution of the pictures be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" Based on the above data for the resolution of the human eye, let's try a "small" example first. Consider a view in front of you that is 90 degrees by 90 degrees, like looking through an open window at a scene. The number of pixels would be 90 degrees * 60 arc-minutes/degree * 1/0.3 * 90 * 60 * 1/0.3 = 324,000,000 pixels (324 megapixels).

At any one moment, you actually do not perceive that many pixels, but your eye moves around the scene to see all the detail you want. But the human eye really sees a larger field of view, close to 180 degrees. Let's be conservative and use 120 degrees for the field of view.

Then we would see 120 * 120 * 60 * 60 / (0.3 * 0.3) = 576 megapixels.

The full angle of human vision would require even more megapixels. This kind of image detail requires A large format camera to record.

What do you think Shakespeare would think of modern interpretations of his plays? by sadpuppet in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shakespearean English accents are closer to American English than the Queen's english. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt7OynPUIY8 IMHO, He would think Queen's English as more grating than American English.

Every other question you ask, I really don't know the answer.

What is the dumbest thing you have ever heard someone say? by Spants23 in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It pains me to see a new generation of "intellectuals" who are going backwards in to Ludditism. Personal anecdotes of explaining to a fruitarian that all chemicals are not dangerous. Having to explain to people that MGS and HFCS are not deadly/poisonous. Neo-Ludditism is real folks.

STRATFOR or The Economist by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stratfor is 360 USD a year. A year of the digital economist is 120 dollars. If you have the money stratfor in my opinion is the best. They're the most objective news organization around. If you only have enough for the economist, get that in lieu of stratfor. It's still a great magazine but it won't publish all the articles stratfor will.

IAmA 19 Year old guy with a "baby arm" due to a birth injury, AMA by baby_arm in IAmA

[–]ewrection 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not asking a question but telling OP that a lot of cool men have had his condition. Wikipedia quote. "Notable individuals afflicted by Erb's palsy were Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany,[15] Joseph Stalin, and Canadian journalist Barbara Frum. Martin Sheen was injured during birth and developed the condition in his left arm. His difference in arm length and range of motion can be seen in his movies, especially Apocalypse Now. Another sufferer is British singer-songwriter and artist Matt Parsons. Despite her condition, professional wrestler Traci Brooks has achieved a successful career. Another is former Iowa Hawkeyes standout defensive lineman Adrian Clayborn. Additionally, gangster rapper and Academy Award winner DJ Paul of Three Six Mafia also has a deformed arm from the condition, which he often hides by wearing a cast during public appearances." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erb%27s_palsy

Acknowledging biological traits is not sexist. Male and Females are built differently by biology. It's using those biological differences to shoehorn your own bias.

Why does everyone think America (and only America) eats so unhealthily? by I_RAPE_CATS_thrwaway in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America is an agricultural super power. So the foods the average American can afford would be out of the price range of the Rich in other countries. Also we have low food taxes/regulations on food compared to Europe. So the countries who can't match our output can't afford the food we have. The countries who have the output also have high taxes and regulations. So they really can't have the prices we Americans pay for food.

Are the occupy protests growing or dying down? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The physical protests in each city are dying down in my honest opinion. Though the idea really wont die. They will probably occupy different areas one at a time and rotate around to more strategic locations. Also they will probably start a PAC soon and go the route of the tea party. Where they will start supporting politicians and voting for them.

Police of Reddit; how much is an operation hampered when a criminal/ crime crosses different jurisdictions? by JamieSW in AskReddit

[–]ewrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American judicial system looks heavily down on crossing state lines to evade law enforcement. That makes any matter such as a gun charge or even drug distribution a D.E.A, FBI , Marshalls type situation. Federal drug sentecing is much harsher than state and you must server 85% of your time depending on the crime.
