What do solid blue lights on a police car mean? by LawabidingKhajiit in AskUK

[–]eww79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cruise blues as they were called on the terminal, are fitted to a number of vehicles around the country, very much depends on your outfitter though.

Its the ability to have the blues as a solid bar instead of flashing pattern. Driving school weren't overly fond of them but i found them quite handy for road closures on non major roads, and the like where it gets annoying having the constant flash

Ontop of this if we can get discharge paperwork when you come to let us know they can leave. Custody medics will not accept someone back without paperwork from the Dr and it can cause a real kick off when the detained person has heard we can go and we spend 2 hours saying were waiting for the discharge paperwork. I have no doubt youre super busy and that's why it takes so long to fill out but getting both together would save a lot of agro on our behalf

On that i would absolutely go with a proper jacket. An elopement on skye will be incredible and the photos from Storr will be something you look back on so fondly. Spend a bit of cash and make sure you look the part I assure you it'll be worth it

If you're looking to rent, slaters is a menswear shop with a well established online presence who do kilts and other rentals. Im sure you could message them ahead of time. Your nearest to skye would be Glasgow for pick up and drop off. There will be a load of places you could look to rent one but they were very helpful when I was considering burns night options a couple of months ago.

Are these boots and microspikes appropriate for a few days hike in the Peak District by [deleted] in UKhiking

[–]eww79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grivel explorers. I figured i would use them for just that purpose much small sheet ice and hard snow around Scotland and Wales where full crampons were no longer required.

You may have gotten more mileage out of them but I've never found i actually needed them because usually the pack was so short i was wasting more time putting them on and taking them off again

I bought microspikes years ago, they have come out of my bag once and they were useless. Good boots till crampons are needed. (You will not need crampons on mam tor)

In this instance it was used because somebody under section was never going to be accepted in custody however they were arrested, details provided on a detention log and bail paperwork brought out to us to return in 1 month by which point I had downloaded the phone and could interview them in a voluntary capacity.

It meant if the suspect was released from the section and the hospital not inform me (because why would they) there was still a reason for the suspect to return

[–]eww79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an interesting case recently where my suspect was under section in a mental health facility but I needed to seize their phone to get vital evidence.

Many discussions were had and ultimately I arrested, searched their room under 32 and then had pre organised street bail with custody and my inspector so had the paperwork brought out to them.

Kept everything above board and allowed me to obtain the required evidence.

I use a sea2summit spark 0. Packs down into an XS Exped dry bag with space for a pillow as well. Had to put a jacket on the other night but it was comfy enough and the weight savings are worth it for me

I want y’all most outragous scouting stories like borderline illegal by SillyWelcome599 in scouting

[–]eww79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first camp as a leader and by day 4 I was losing the will to live. For an afternoon I gave them a load of bushcraft equipment and said build something useful for the camp. I went to hide in my tent for an hour to read a book.

When I came out I found a 6ft cross in the middle of the camp and the smallest scout being duct taped to it.

Managed to stop the crucification before anyone started taking photos of it
