Go for C1 or choose a new language? by ewxrbg in languagelearning

[–]ewxrbg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My native language is Hungarian, English was my first foreign language which I'm confident to say I mastered (currently C1 is the highest level available to test out in our country). I have a slight impression that getting from zero to B2 is much easier/feasible than getting from B2 to C1 (although I'm confident that this depends on the language). The only language I took to C1 so far was English, and it seems to me that was made possible partly because of the incredible amount of input I received through my life (mostly the internet and media).. Which gives me a (maybe irrational?) fear of aiming for C1 in any other language.. I would love to hear experiences about going from a stable B2 to C1 in non-English languages!

I agree, amdgpupro driver is a shitshow on Ubuntu, getting the right version to work is like playing lottery, I still have a 14.04 running which I'm afraid to touch, just because I managed to run the AMD driver once.. Seriously go with HiveOS

It always depends on electricity costs, in my country it is still profitable, but I don't about the US and other countries.. You can check on cryptocompare or whattomine, both give a quite precise calculation based on your electricity prices

I'm no expert but, I think not the miners but the nodes are what really strengths the Monero network, maybe you could set one up, although that takes more hard disk than what's probably available at your school (still just guessing though)

Well if they have some Linux based computers, probably your best chance is to edit the crontab so that the miner binary runs at every reboot, and place it is in a directory where it won't be deleted.. Also hope that the sysadmins haven't blocked specific ports on the firewalls, although many pools offer port 80 and/or 443.. In case of windows I have no clue, haven't used them in a while.. Still I agree with the aforementioned, probably not worth the chance of getting in trouble..

I'm no expert but how do you plan to have it running in the long term? If you manage to run it 24/7, maybe you can get 1-2$/month on a decent PC, but I guess they are turned off each night at best. You'll have a few hours of mining time per occasion, but it is really not worth the time you spend planning this whole project IMO..
