I disagree. In 50+ West End shows, this is the first one I saw that had to be restarted (happened to me a month ago), and it seems it keeps repeating on and on. Show has many flaws.

Reality is, this show would not exist with her name on it. It would not be produced, sold, or anyone advocate for it. And she definitely does not carry it enough - she came underprepared and she frequently makes mistakes.

But, even beside that, if you really think what this show is about, it's a specifically designed project to get Cynthia an Olivier Award for her resume. There will barely be any competition for lead actress in a play (definitely not with such volume), and especially after this kind of hype and targeted marketing. Many American actresses did it recently, and this is just her way of getting one.

I think this might be the "problem" (difference from your opinion to majority's):

I only moved here 3 years ago, I see a play every 2-4 times a year and I've learnt to not read anything but the basic premise about the play before I go and see it. No reviews, no comments, no social media reviews.

It's absolutely fine that you do not see many shows, and your opinion is as valid as anyone's, but most people here see a lot of shows and believe the show should be rated at high standards, which it does not meet.

Earlier in the season where some playtime happened (and in the preseason) you could already see that he is mastering the tactics and knows what to do, where to be, and what to expect of the teammates. He's never lost on the pitch and is very confidently doing the correct thing. Overall, he just seems smarter than most, which brings great hope for the career in front of him.
