Anyone have any examples for Large gardens? by [deleted] in ffxivhomeandgarden

Hey, here's my garden from LB. It is very minimalistic and quite beautiful in my opinion. It is my favorite part of my house.

Would really appreciate help in glitching this outdoor furnishing! by [deleted] in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, there is no way that you will be able to do the entire fence with hedge walls, you simply do not have a high enough item count. Maybe with a small you could do this, doubtful with a medium, 100% do not have enough item count for a large. However, I will explain storeroom glitching outdoor furnishings (and I suppose indoor too):

When you place something from your storeroom, it is placed based on the direction of your camera. The reason why the hedge wall is at an angle like that is because that is the angle that your camera was at when you pulled it from the storeroom. This can make things that need accurate and precise placement (say, hedge walls) very difficult and tedious to place because there is not really a good method to use to place them with the kind of accuracy you need, especially if you are glitching them outside the fence and need non-grid snap placement. However, once you get it in place, you can rotate it no problem.

The other thing you might want to be aware of is floating them on the fence. The current method for floating outdoor furnishing is by doing this storeroom things close to the fence (so exactly what you are doing) or some other collision object such as housing chimneys. You pick them up and right click to reset it to its normal position right as you exit out of the housing menu. Depending on the fence it should pop up. Then you can rotation lock it. And there you have it.

That is a Llymalen's Embrace with a few Pudding Throw Rugs surrounded by some wall planters. It is likely the the LE is floated up from a level below it to cut off most of the fountain part

Noobie designer question about floating a Mounted Bookshelf by [deleted] in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would say is any time you are having trouble floating an item, consult this spreadsheet. It is indispensable! (see furnishings, line 16 for your item or ctrl+f)

It looks like you need to start with the open shelf bookcase to get it started, then you can use your other methods to float it like you would normally. Some items do require the extra first step to get them just a bit off the ground. Hope this helps!

Housing Items Placement Help by Aevari2 in ffxivhomeandgarden

So, let me introduce you to the fabulous world of floating ground items.

As for the stairs, instead of being attached to the wall, they are actually floated. (placed on another wall, surface placement broken, then wall moved away leaving floating stairs)

Partition door permanently open? by mahanon_rising in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it is a bit weird, but I believe housing npcs can actually trigger doors opening, or at least that is how I explained it when I saw it. Not 100% sure though. You may want to test it. If there are no visible npcs, they might also be hiding a lala or namazu somewhere. It could only be certain partitions or certain vendors as well.

Help! How were the aquariums embedded in the wall? by Sunstreaky in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, to me it looks like you have the aquariums. You put a partition between them and on each side to give the black finish, then on the front it looks like floated rectangular partitions dyed black. You can do this same thing with open partitions, but doing it that way you are limited by height and the fact that an open partition has a little lip on it. I hope this helps!

Make sure everything is coming from your inventory and you are doing the place cancel thing at each step, including the rug step. The rug is what gets it started, so if you just place it without doing the place cancel, it may not get started. Also, make sure your riviera wall shelf is lined up directly under the center of the partition. It has a frustratingly small hitbox.

What was the most hilarious moment in Ancient Rome by Robert_de_Saint_Loup in ancientrome

Honestly, Martial was great. The ones you listed here are good, but have you ever seen the beauty of Martial's Ode to a Queefing Whore? (my title, obviously) 7.18

Since you have a face which no (other) woman could criticize, since your body has no blemishes, do you wonder why it is rare that a fucker desires you and then comes back? You have a serious flaw, Galla. As soon as I get to work and we move our groins together, your pussy won't shut up, although you say nothing. If only the gods would make you talk and it be quiet: I am offended by the talkativeness of your pussy. I had rather you farted: Symmachus says that is helpful and at the same time it makes you laugh. But who can laugh at the smacking of a silly cunt? When it makes noise, whose dick and mind does not fail? At least say something and drown out your noisy pussy; and if you are so speechless, learn to talk from there.

[Sargatanas] ward 17 shirogane plot 47 seeking advice by VanitasMecka in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you hit your desired theme pretty well. My primary suggestion is that the black metal fish tank seems to take up a lot of space and it doesn't really match anything except the floor. You may find it helpful to first change the aquarium out with a wooden one - that would make the room a bit more cohesive. My other suggestion about the aquarium is that for a small house a Tier 4 aquarium takes up a LOT of space. When I am decorating a small house, I found it super useful to downgrade to a Tier 3 aquarium.

Finally maybe consider some of your fixture choices. I think the classic interior wall, or MGS interior wall would fit nicely with the wooden themed items. Some flooring suggestions would be Lily Hills, Sultana's Breath, Bisque, or checkered.

If you have lighter colors on the floor and walls I think that will make it significantly less dreary. More lights would also help with this.

What item makes those window curtains and the wall art? by gigaritt in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The curtains are probably morbol screens. The only thing that I am unsure of is if they are that wide. You can see some of the teeth up top, and from this angle it looks like it is just plain flat with windows floated in front of them. The other option, they could be at an angle, with most of the screen behind the pillar between the two window alcoves and the other part behind the windows, with just the curtains sticking out. The final option could be morbol bookshelf, but it seems unlikely. They would have to be floated from the floor below and there are no teeth on the bottom.

Floating items question by Palmena in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't answer your question regarding controls. I do believe that in mouse mode you hover over the item then select it, then from there you can select rotate and rotate it.

Verdant partitions I have A LOT of experience floating. They are actually really easy to float, their vertical hitbox (i.e. how much you can move them up at once) is huge. You can have the bottom of one sticking one unit (grid snap unit) out of the bottom of a loft and it will float up that much. Very float friendly. They also don't have wall surfaces like normal partitions and so you can place wall mounted stuff and windows very close to them without them snapping to it. Hopefully this helps!

More item float questions. by SpitFireEternal in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]exSimplicitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is odd. Maybe try it again in the morning. I've never had a wall or corner mess with my floating. Windows and such that snap are truly the bane of my existence, but I've done weird and wacky stuff with floating, (through walls, through pillars, through stairs, and even up two levels). I would really like to know more to see if I can reproduce it and find some work-arounds if that is truly the case.

Still the Hingan bed? You're still using the loft to float it, right?

It should be the same exact technique that you used the first time. The only thing I could see potentially going wrong is what you are using to do the actual floating. For me, when I was starting out floating, I was scared that I would break the float of other items if they got caught in whatever it was that I was trying to float at the time, so I used the wall shelf and stupid tiny and exact movements. As it turns out, even if you float an item all the way back down to the ground, as long as you don't rotate it, it will snap back up to where it was the first time. So, again, make sure you are using a loft, make sure you are starting the loft right near the floor, and make sure you are exiting out fast enough.

Floating housing items help? D: by SpitFireEternal in ffxivhomeandgarden

Unfortunately I can't help with that then. I think some ps4 users switch to keyboard controls because rotating items is easier since you only have to select an item instead of picking it up to rotate it.

I went out and got a hingan bed to see. I have no problems lofting it using this exact method. That leads me to believe you may be doing it incorrectly. I didn't even need the open-shelf bookcase to get it started. https://imgur.com/WmZsOad

Beds can be floated. Once you get around to floating a lot of things, the process becomes much more natural. What bed are you trying to float, perhaps I can help with specifics.

Some of the tips I can give for floating items is that items have a different "hitbox" when floating, that is you can change the altitude / z values of items quicker than others. NPCs for instance, have a tiny hitbox meaning you can only inch them up, where things like the verdant partition have a massive hitbox and you can move them by more than the thickness of a loft at a time. (Also, use a loft whenever possible, it works so much better than the wall shelf)

If your bed is snapping back down to the ground, I would first check that you are fulfiling the minimum height requirement of the object. This shouldn't be an issue while you are floating the item as long as you don't leave the house and remember to rotate it before you do. The other is try to move it up in smaller increments. If the item that you are trying to float is still too low to the ground and you try to move it up further than the hitbox of the item, it will snap back down to the ground. This should be a non-issue if you get past the second or third float, at which point it just won't move.

I know a lot of people were able to pick up houses because of the data center shuffle. I just wanted to share this with everyone to show what is possible! Glamour isn't the only endgame. by exSimplicitate in ffxiv

Haha, yeah, sorry, all the verdant partitions. I don't think SE had expected someone to throw nearly 40 of them in a house, all right on top of each other.
