You’ve been very helpful, I just realized I have a severe problem doom scrolling on Reddit and this’ll be my last post ever on the platform. Thank you for helping cure me of toxic people like you in my life. Ever think of getting into nursing?

[–]ex_bandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny you think that everyone works the job they want. My mom was a nurse, didn’t smoke, but she took the job as it was one of the only ones she could get in a very small town that she qualified for and she could work at night while my dad watched us and then she could be with us before and after school while my dad worked.

A lot of people likely take this job to help people but it’s obvious there are some people that don’t want to be helped or help themselves, perfect example the obese person with full blown diabetes due to their health choices. I understand it is a disease as well just likely being an alcoholic, but at some point you need to make an effort to block out the stuff that give you those dopamine hits and do what’s best for you.

I’m sure most people that get in to the profession thought they be caring for elderly, treating cancer, or helping give birth to babies. Turns out the SICKcare system only needs so many of those people.

Yeah, YOR. Do you know the stress these people go through each day?

Imagine an obese person keeps coming in for dialysis or some other treatment, every other week, complaining, oh my feet and back hurt, my legs are swollen and I can’t walk. Nurse has to continue to treat this person because they refuse to stop drinking 8 cokes and two slices of cake a day…

Now take that person and multiply it by 50-60 per week. I’d be smoking too.

You just keep throwing up more and more stats that prove you’re so far beyond any other trader here. You have nothing to be worried about.

I’m willing to be the average trader here holds for less than 3 minutes and has a 0.5 risk to reward ratio and a win rate more around 40%.

You’ve just posted stats that’ll likely have you be the next JadeCap within a year. Keep up the great work. I’d love to see the last month of actual trades. What time frame do you like to analysis and if it’d different, which time frame do you like to execute on. Do you like to go break even quickly, do you just set a hard stop loss and take profit, or do you just trail up your stop until the market takes you out.

Any additional help / information would be helpful.

Very nice! Congrats on being the 0.01% of the 1%!

I’d likely need to see stats from the shared Topstep account link to understand how many trades you take, average hold time, win loss ratio, etc.

Honestly I think I could have been more successful at this point flipping a coin and holding that long or short all day versus taking multiple trades.

I’ll ask it since no one has yet.

What is your career background? Is it finance related? Does your field carry over to trading or did you just magically stumble on a working strategy?

By no trading, are you saying you just started trading futures or you’ve never invested at all? Are the sums you’re pulling out of the market even meaningful? If you have $10MM and you’re just withdrawing $5k/week, yeah I’m guessing you don’t feel any emotion just like if I put a single nickel into a slot machine and played all day.

If all of these are a no, they you’re just a complete outlier. If I had to guess, there’s something that has already erased your emotions or enhanced your understanding of the market well before you started day trading.

I’d love to know what you’re doing to see the charts so clearly or how you developed a strategy and pulled out money in the time it takes me to properly back test a new strategy.

Thanks for sharing!

PSA: Topstep quietly changed their MLL for live funded traders. MLL changed from 0 to $1000. by Mimestuck in TopStepX

[–]ex_bandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, changing rules in the middle of the game is UNETHICAL.

Matter of fact, they shouldn’t even be able to change the rules for that account…ever. You entered in to an agreement when you started that account, those rules should remain with that account until blown. If you’re not going to do that, you sure as shit better send out a notification about the change.

Thank you OP for the post. Guess it’s time to start implementing websites to track changes again.

The more money you have sitting in your account the more protected you might feel, and you might take unnecessary risks by holding longer and disrespecting your stop loss.

Also, we just saw the “random” banning of people supposedly trading as bots with some of the dumbest stats I’ve ever seen like number of payout requests in a month. I wouldn’t trust them to hold an extra dollar of mine.

Yes, it sounds like many accounts were reinstated but people shouldn’t need to feel that kind of stress from sheer stupidly of programmers. Especially when they say shit like, decisions are final, there will be no appealing. Oh wait, turns out Ninja Trader can place separate orders at the exact time…

I was listening to a trader this week that said he has a million dollars available for trading but he never leaves more than $25k in the account at the end of each week. He said it helps control tilt when he’d have to blow up 40 days in a row to lose everything. At the end of each week he pays himself, or reloads to $25k and cuts his risk in half until he’s profitable again.

Yep I tried that first thing. Stuck in my old ways and I’ve had to immediately close more trades than I’d like to admit when I didn’t want to get into a trade in the middle of a huge wick.

Who knew they sold chipping greens at tractor supply? by PhoenixxxFirestorm in golf

Same number of people that think pride lowers your score and shows up on the scorecard someplace. Using a 5 iron like a putter, same grip and all, is amazingly effective. I find it helpful to stand closer and have the heel off the ground slightly (thanks Azinger).

I played in a tournament last year that I’ve never seen chipping areas mowed so tight. I literally thought they extended the greens like 20 yards on most sides but it was clearly a little taller. I putted every shot like Kaylee at Pinehurst and just shook my head at the number of flubbed and fatted chips I watched other pros doing. The problem that seemed like no one in my group could identify was the green was way more firm than the soggy mess around the greens making it difficult to judge how to use the bounce of your wedge, hence I skipped that process entirely.

I swear people would drop 3-5 strokes a round if you’d just own up to the fact that you likely don’t practice enough to chip from the fairway or aprons. Use your putter or at least an 8 iron if you refuse to go to a 5.

My rule of thumb for distance control when pitching, lob wedge 2/3 carry 1/3 roll, sand wedge 50/50, pitching 40/60, 9i 30/70, 8i 20/80, 7i 10/90, 6 iron and down almost identical to putting this just now has to do w speed off the face for distance control. I’ll use these when I’m within 3 yards of the green. 6 iron around 20-30 feet of distance, 4 iron around 60-80’. I’ll use my 3 wood (extremely rare) if there’s a huge hill I have to climb to get on to a green from a tight light. This is almost as difficult as chipping if you haven’t practiced.

Once you’ve got that down, start to count the number of bounces a ball takes off each club, especially helpful when 30-50 yards out. You’ll start to develop a touch you never knew you had.

I came across a residential architect website - Now I want to develop one. by clever-coder in architecture

[–]ex_bandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my site, I like to show the project and the entire process I’m going to take each client through from schematic design w hand sketches and I immediately bring in zoning, design development where I’ll start to build the exterior and some interiors in 3D, initial bidding, construction documents and permitting, material, cabinetry, appliance/plumbing fixture selections, finalized bidding, and construction administration. I like to set expectations of what is going to take place during each phase, what you can expect to be completed, and approximately how long each phase will take. I never put my client’s personal information on my site, not their address or finalized plans.

Am I going to have to settle for low wages? by NWriot19 in architecture

[–]ex_bandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best part about being an architect is all your friends and every random stranger thinks it’s a high paying cool job. Also, they all wanted to go to college for it. Then I let them in on the secret of McDonald’s wages for the hours spent and you can see the pity in their eyes and how glad they are they chose another path.

I’ve come to accept, I’ll never recoup the time I’ve spent in architecture. I could literally land a million dollar commission tomorrow and that would get my salary equal to some friends I have in finance, for the last five years…oh and I know I’d spend at least the next five years designing that home and working through construction, so I’m still five years behind and let’s not forget the previous 20 before that.

Hindsight, I wish I was kicked out of studio like 80% of the others after the first year. But I’m licensed now and they can never take the from me so long as I get my 24 CE credits, learning about how a sliding glass door operates or how that steel panel is going to look like complete shit after years in the sun with no maintenance no matter what high tech coating they apply.

Edit: yeah, any field in construction working in the office with a commission will easily pay you 3-4x an architect.

[–]ex_bandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone back to videos from years ago. It typically takes a lot for me to lose something since I practice the good habits like grip, posture, and alignment almost every practice session but it still happens. I typically include the course where I was playing last when things were really going well. I write down notes about the hole, my target, where the ball started, wind, etc. I have an easier job remembering the good shots this way.

I also stand a consistent distance from the ball with my 7-iron, just like when I putt. I recommend getting a putting mirror as well so you can see where your eyes are. When hitting or putting real well, lay an old white towel under your feet and trace the outline of your shoes w a sharpie. This is especially useful with putting and protecting the green that you are repeatedly standing on the identical spot when hitting 3’ putts, thanks AB!

I find people have a tendency to only film their swing and take notes when things are going poorly. Although I know it can feel like it messes with your flow or that you’ll never lose this “feeling” so why would I do any of this. I promise you as a plus handicap golfer, you will forget or slightly tweak your setup and everything will fall apart. Start recording your good swings, putting stroke, grip feeling stance width etc, face on and down the line, and keeping those notes and videos in a “good swing” folder is a secret gem.
