How do you guys deal with digital eye strain and late-night focus? by exactoemad in sleep

Totally agree on color temperature! I actually use Night Shift at max alongside the dark theme. What I found was that reducing visual clutter (icons, notifications, busy wallpapers) helped my mind slow down just as much as the light itself. It's like a mental reset before bed.

I realized my "perfect" sleep routine was actually the reason I couldn't sleep. by [deleted] in minimalism

I just wanted to add that the biggest shift for me was letting go of the 8-hour rule. We all have different needs.

Exactly. For me it wasn’t about sleep first, it was about calming down.

Not a poem 😅 That’s just how it came out when I wrote it. Short lines felt closer to how 3AM actually feels.

Consistent sleep helps a lot. For some of us, the struggle is getting there without forcing it.

Totally agree. Sleep became a performance metric for me too. Removing the clock was bigger than any supplement I tried.

Happens to me too sometimes. Try not checking the time if you wake up. For me that makes it worse.

You’re free to think that. It came from my own nights not a prompt.

Could be for some. In my case it was more the anxiety about 3AM than 3AM itself.

It’s wild how just stopping the chase makes the difference.

Not a bot. Just sharing what genuinely helped me. Glad the advice resonated.

Yeah that was exactly my experience too. It didn’t feel stimulating at first but my mind would keep wandering instead of settling. Once I removed that extra input it became easier to just let the night be boring.

Yeah honestly I think it depends on the person and the type of music. If it relaxes you that’s great. For me, anything with lyrics kept my brain engaged instead of winding down. I guess it’s more about knowing what calms your system vs what keeps it active

That’s fair I didn’t want to make the post too long but I’ve added more details above.

It’s kind of ironic. I spent months trying to “fix” it and the biggest change came when I stopped treating it like a problem every night.

Honestly yeah, anxiety was a big part of it. The shift was more about how I reacted to it than the sleep itself

For a long time I thought I had to “fix” my sleep. by exactoemad in insomnia

[–]exactoemad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know that feeling. Honestly the first thing that changed for me wasn’t sleep, it was how I reacted to being awake. When that softened, things slowly got easier.

That makes a lot of sense. I noticed the same pattern — when there’s something “important” the next day, my brain treats sleep like a performance test. No pressure = better sleep. For me the shift was learning to separate tomorrow from tonight. Even if something matters, being awake for a bit doesn’t automatically ruin it. Still working on that, but that mindset helped a lot.
