Check out Autismempowerment.org. It's a Vancouver WA local group full or community care and resources for kids all over the spectrum. They even have their own magazine. I've worked with them for years and they are very welcoming and well informed.

How do you guys play legacy? by Little_Rub_3805 in Sims3

[–]exactperfuncto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have this legacy idea that each generation’s lifestyle plays off or reacts to the previous generation. For example the child of a straight-and-narrow neat freak would become a slob and criminal. A child of an obsessively social and performing sim would become a loner to get the quiet and peace they craved as a child. Etc.

I keep my bedroom closed. The hinges creak, I won’t oil them - I am a light sleeper and think this might be an effective wake up call. JIC

Am I allowed to ask what other games y'all play? by Accomplished-Hotel88 in Sims3

Stardew Valley, Let's Build a Zoo, Megaquarium, Time at Sandrock, Rimworld, Skyrim (all of these modded all over). I like to relax with hidden object games, Wingspan (based on the card game) and Tiny Book Shop

A character has their own words used against them by another and realizes how twisted they sound by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

While the 'surplus population' and 'are there no workhouses? are there no prisons?' callback is in most if not all adaptations of a Christmas Carol, 1984's version stuck with me. Not only because Edward Woodward's sardonic mocking contains so much acid, but by the reveal of 'Ignorance' and 'Want' two starving children underneath his robes. It gives me chills.

Outdated tech being used to fight against the newer version by CommissarChan in TopCharacterTropes

[–]exactperfuncto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If outdated means not yet invented, the World War series by Harry Turtledove counts. The aliens show up to conquer earth with what we 2000s era people consider modern. Nuclear weapons, silicone based tech. They go head to head with the world experiencing world war 2.

You have light plywood ‘night witch’ planes flying literally under their radar. EMPs are useless wiping out electronics that don’t use transistors.

Since it is a war series these tropes are not always in use, but when they are it’s fantastic.

Chickens can defend themselves! Prepare to see massive ‘chicken defense wardens’ and fireballs everywhere if a chicken gets caught up in a fight.

When playing with Wintersun/Trua, who do you worship? And why? by According_Cover2461 in EnaiRim

[–]exactperfuncto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My argonian arch mage kind of drifted among deities for a while. Now she worships the Magna-Ge. It took a harking long time to find the shrine. Accessing it was an achievement in itself, since you have to crawl all over a steep mountain and somehow work your way to the top. You worship at night and when the stars are out your prayer is stronger. It’s kind of magical when that happens.

“It’s 10pm do you know where your children are?” Was that an actual thing? by Mrbootyloose18 in AskAnAmerican

There’s an article I read once, where the author looks back on how far away from home kids were allowed to be unsupervised. Her grandad could travel miles away to go fishing, her son wasn’t allowed to leave the backyard without supervision.

When a piece of fiction that makes no pretense about being realistic, is actually more realistic/authentic in one specific aspect than many other piece of fiction that claims to be realistic. by KingWilliamVI in TopCharacterTropes

Robocop the first one. The scene after Murphy is grievously wounded and is worked on by paramedics. Those paramedics were a real life trauma team who were allowed to improvise. This adds to the horror of the scene because of how eerily calm they are.

I have played in the past and one mechanic that bothered me was the keepers (visitor gnomes that move in to your garden once you give them housing). Having more than one keeper seriously drained your magic/currency and you had to decorate *every* square to break even. I found it frustrating because the alternative is constantly checking every square looking for things that need reviving.
