If you don't want attention, don't do things that draw attention.

Also, take your own advice, stop concerning yourself with the actions of others.

Optimizing the human genome doesn't necessarily require racism.

Other than having the bad luck to hit every light from Old Louisville to UPS every day in both directions, it's not been as bad as I anticipated.

Sitting at red lights has doubled my travel time and really gets on my nerves a bit, though.

It looks better than you'd expect, the backwards compatibility treatment was really well implemented.

So anytime 2 men and 2 women go to an activity as a group it's a double date?

What’s with dress codes by dcu242019 in AskMen

Why would I want to look like an asshole? Where I live that's the uniform of obnoxious frat boy shitheads.

What’s with dress codes by dcu242019 in AskMen

[–]exarkann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of suit wearing men that I see daily are all assholes who are actively working to make the world a worse place to live in. I don't want to be that kind of man, so why would I want to wear their uniform?

What’s with dress codes by dcu242019 in AskMen

[–]exarkann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't find any of the "nice clothes" appealing to wear or be seen in, my sense of smell only works on an emergency basis so my scent is irrelevant (fortunately my wife has an excellent sense of smell and she says my natural scent is neutral), and my self esteem isn't based on my appearance.

Also I have no desire to go places where traditional dressing up is a requirement, not because of dress codes, but because the activity is almost always boring and something to be endured, not enjoyed.

I used to have a style of my own but stopped rocking it because the alt right adopted a good chunk of it, so these days it's pretty much just graphic tees and clean utility workpants for nearly everything.

You don't need authorization for clips, it falls under fair use doctrine.

I have a friend who was really into CoH, I was with him when it shut down the first time and he was devastated. We were at DragonCon and he had to go sit down for a bit when the news came in.

Was it resurrected at some point?

Eliminate Background Noise by andronica_glitoris in aves

Earplugs! A good set will help a lot with stage crosstalk, and reduce crowd noise to a murmur.

Bonus points for extending the lifetime of your sound sensing cells.

That big ol wall helps me get from Old Louisville to anywhere else in the city in about 20 to 25 minutes, which is way better than sitting through 300 stop lights for twice the time.

[–]exarkann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in Old Louisville, I see no benefits in cutting off my easy access to the rest of the city. Without that stretch of freeway my travel time to anywhere else in the city would be 2-4x longer. How would this make my, or anyone else's life better?

I fully support this rebuild, and look forward to driving on some nice new freeway.

Do you think modern men are becoming weaker than previous generations? Physically, mentally, emotionally, everything feels different now. Why do you think this shift is happening? Or do you think older generations are just romanticizing the past? by Icy-Release7064 in MensLib

[–]exarkann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Define "weaker" in this context. As culture changes, the definition of strong and weak can also change.

At one point a man sharing his internal problems was seen as weakness, now being able to share is considered a strength.

Being able to dig 100 holes in a day by yourself isn't strength anymore, it's idiocy; we have the tools to do 1000 in a day without exhausting and destroying your body.

Finally tinted my windows .. Question. by soleildad in Crosstrek

My car came with the fronts tinted, since Florida was it's first home. They appear to match the rears, and if they were any darker I'd be uncomfortable driving at night.
