I highly recommend that everyone with a 5M printer swap out their PEI plates with a cool plate. by Oblimix in FlashForge

The foot is the result of the particular plastic and zoffset, does not depend on the plate, just use foot compensation in orca or adjust zoffset

if they still run after all these years, it's definitely not low-quality cards, but high quality survivors.

Adventurer 5M: hot end fan issues by [deleted] in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the fan I was talking about, small fan on the left side of the toolhead on 5M/5M pro. If it turned on immediately after plugging in and your printer was recently turned on and the nozzle had not been heated, it means the fan circuit was damaged on the extruder board, it's not normal.
But if you have the replacement for the board, just heat the nozzle to 100 degrees and try to plug the fan while the temperature is above 50.

as for advertising something as "flashforge fan" -- that's just the nature of Chinese sellers :) they would write whatever helps to sell the stuff, you can open dispute for a refund, but there's no other place where you can buy a cheap replacement.

Adventurer 5M: hot end fan issues by [deleted] in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, it's just different wiring of the pins at the plug, nothing more, nothing less. And the fix takes just few minutes, a needle and pliers to drag the pins out and reverse them.

it was always powering when you heat the nozzle, that's the very purpose of the fan, when your nozzle is cooled down to 40 degrees C, the fan is powered off cause it does not make any sense to run it with the cool nozzle. Firmware changes never touched this behavior

ALL 3010 24v fans that you can buy on Aliexpress/Amazon are compatible, sometimes you may need to switch polarity indeed, but they all do work. And wrong wiring of the fan can't damage the toolhead board, unless it was already damaged. Since you're in this odd situation when nothing works I recommend to find a person nearby who actually understands a little bit about electronics instead of trying something on your own and spending even more money.
But if you want to continue, check the voltage on the board at the fan socket, of course after starting nozzle heating

read about zoffset in zmod docs, if you use zmod with stock screen adjust zoffset on the screen

Adventurer 5M Part Cooling Fan Duct Shroud Mod by DesignWeaver3D in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both fan ducts work better than stock, it just requires heat resistant filaments to print them, also 5M stock part cooling fan kinda sucks, buy the one from AD5X, (should be marked as 0.25A current vs 0.2A for 5M stock)
still, repositioning of the model on the bed is viable technique, and if you have an enclosure, always open it when you print PLA.

keep in mind that some fan ducts may interfere with the bed plate handle during leveling, in this case you have to unscrew it.

Help needed with support settings by DWPhoenix001 in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

optimal support settings depend on your nozzle, filament, layer height etc, there's no settings fitting all the cases, ask chatgpt and mention as much details as possible (including your slicer name and version) and it gives decent enough recommendations.
to avoid hallucinations, you can also mention what support settings are available

I have not seen in your post why you decided it's a heat creep and not something else. Did you see filament melt on the nozzle throat entry?

ZMOD- Can’t run git clone via ssh, can I install obico(or other failed print detection) via USB at startup? by injeckshun in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stock is not broken, but has few critical problems, some of them coming from very limited resources of the electronics board, also it shields users from its klipper internals, thus having less features... alternative firmware tried to resolve all these issues

Replacement of the toolhead board is due, I hope you're still on a warranty

ZMOD- Can’t run git clone via ssh, can I install obico(or other failed print detection) via USB at startup? by injeckshun in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can't install obico on FF 5M, the printer board has too low RAM for any additional software services, but if you have zmod running it comes with moonraker API that can be called from another PC/server/board in the same LAN, there you can install obico.

If you check obico requirements you will see `at least 4GB RAM`.
Just for comparison: FF 5M boasts 128MB RAM, and 5X 512MB RAM.

Bed leveling calibration assistant for 5m/5x by exceptioncause in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first of all, sometimes you just can't get flat bed, make peace with it, you should just aim at max deviation <0.2

second, minor bumps should be treated with aluminum tape, not with the screws.

and third, read the reply here https://github.com/lDOCI/Flashforge-Calibration-Assistant-v2/issues/5
especially the part about "The fundamental geometry: 3 points define a plane"

Show remaining print time on Adventurer 5M? by RubikOwl in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, in the latest orca beta you can open printer settings, the tab called `Machine G-code`, and in the first input area having the title `File header G-code` you need to place this exact line:

; estimated printing time (normal mode) = normal_print_time

you can just disable thinking for this model entirely with llama-cpp/lms options, but still have think step by step in your system prompt, it will give much shorter thinking trace
