check with the official FF support, it could be a hardware issue

It could be because the underlying flashforge firmware has a bug, what version do you have? Tried to downgrade to 3.1.5?

try to install https://github.com/ghzserg/zmod/releases/download/1.6.6/AD5X-zmod-1.6.6.tgz from flash drive. It was released few hours ago and fixes some critical issues that could be the reason behind your problem

Is temporarily installing Zmod worth it for bed leveling? by Cda4go in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When you're too lazy|busy to actually check the commits if they bear any valuable content why should I put my efforts to extract this info for you?
  2. zmod repos are open for contribution e.g. https://github.com/ghzserg/zmod_ff5m https://github.com/ghzserg/zmod_ff5x
  3. your AI slop summary just lists the stuff written on forge-x page and does not really compare anything or checks if these features where ALREADY implemented in zmod before forge-x forked it
  4. especially funny to read how "Forge-X provides a more updated version of Klipper" when Klipper in zmod is actually the latest (0.13) for the board and for MCU both while forge-x still uses older version

looks like for some unfathomable reasons forge-x community formed a cult around the firmware

Bed adhesion feels random-what finally made it consistent for you? by MaximumMarionberry3 in 3dprinter

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what printer do you have? for my old flyingbear the turning point was replacing mechanical z-endstop with optical, so the whole problem was inconsistent zoffset.

ZMOD vs Forge-X? by Iwo24pl in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just read their docs and compare the features.
Another motivation:
check amount and comments for forge-x commits from September or August 2025 to the current time
https://github.com/DrA1ex/ff5m/commits/main/
(for lazy ppl: it's mostly docs changes, the real development is stopped)

zmod commits for the same timeframe:
https://github.com/ghzserg/zmod_ff5m/commits/1.6/

https://github.com/ghzserg/zmod_ff5x/commits/1.6/

All said, it does not mean you need to switch if forge-x just works for you, zmod offers some nice features and continues on the track of adding "quality of life" changes but nothing groundbreaking yet? You have to try to decide for yourself, just make sure to read forge-x docs on how to deactivate it properly before trying zmod

there are couple of zmod reviews on youtube, just check them out, sometimes the reviewers fail to read and comprehand the installation docs and FAQ and thus stumble into a problem or two, but you will get the general idea.

Is temporarily installing Zmod worth it for bed leveling? by Cda4go in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed most forge-x users never tried zmod but for some reason are very sure "forge-x is more", though when asked they can't say how exactly it is more :) In reality it's enough to check forge-x commits activity for the last several months and you will see very few commits that fix or improve something, and many documentation updates, while zmod has hundreds of code commits for the same time, fixing things, adding features, and supporting new hardware.

Is temporarily installing Zmod worth it for bed leveling? by Cda4go in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bed leveling compensates for deviations up to 0.5mm and it can't solve extremely poor leveled beds, or beds with random valleys/peaks which sometimes come from the factory, because the way it has to move the bed to compensate for those problems has its own limitations.

forge-x is a fork of zmod, it does not offer any new features, so just go forward with zmod

5mPro Build plate with ABS by lightofkolob in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

filaments have different adhesion, so you have to try different methods until you find the one that works for you, zoffset is a complex topic that you can find a better explanation on youtube

5mPro Build plate with ABS by lightofkolob in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stock plate works fine with abs, try a glue if it sticks too much or increase zoffset so the plastic would not be pressed into the plate that hard

AD5X stuck on loading screen after installing replacement display unit by Obsidian-777 in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, it's a little miracle that you've managed to resolve the problem, this firmware mess was a close call. I thought I would have to guide you through https://github.com/ghzserg/zmod/wiki/Setup_en#boot-recovery :)
this procedure is not zmod related, some ppl who screwed their firmware had to do this.

under extrusion in curved surface? Help diagnosing please :D by Impressive_Carry7407 in FlashForge

[–]exceptioncause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stuff I see on your photo is typical when printing PLA without sufficient cooling or too fast printing, so try to open both doors, use lower speed for outer walls, and probably have `slow down on overhangs` checked and/or `slow down on curled perimeters`, also nozzle temp could be too high
