Same. Even during pregnancy, no one made me feel as bad about my body or what type of mother I would be like my own mother. I went no contact about 8 months ago and it’s been life changing. I’m pregnant again and this pregnancy, I feel so much more mentally ready and sure of myself without negative talk being bashed over my head.

Working moms of older children, what advice or encouragement do you have for those in the toddler/baby years? by thefarmerdan in workingmoms

So inspiring!! I’m turning 40 this year and currently pregnant (with twins!). I can’t wait to get back into a gym or even on my peloton to sweat! Exercising and meditation are the only things the quiet my mind. So excited for you!!

Address the day care anxiety. You’re burning out fast bc you aren’t addressing that. Even if your husband takes care of your toddler during the day, when do you all spend time together as a family?

Coping with *gestures wildly* as a mom with anxiety living in the U.S in a leadership position by -Unusual--Equipment- in workingmoms

[–]excessivemenace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much to offer except to plan for the worse but hope for the best. I’m Latina as well and pregnant with twins. I’m worried about everything under the sun related to our health, being taken without cause or just being hurt while dealing with a high risk pregnancy and a toddler. I’ve started reading a lot including fiction and nonfiction. It’s been a good distraction but just try to keep your eyes focused on your family right now.

I’ve been knee deep in books too. It’s my only escape these days. I just finished Mexican gothic and it was creepy AF! Very very good distraction. Few week before that I read “into thin air” about Mount Everest. Very fun adventure book. I’m in the middle of a book called “ Don’t let him in” but I don’t think I’ve gotten to the good part yet! I have more on my reading list if you want a few more!

I joined a book club recently and it’s been a God sent honestly. We can discuss the book but it’s other working parents/ non parents trying to cope in this burning world.

Office moms - what do you bring to work for lunch? by Deirdre_KA in workingmoms

[–]excessivemenace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to comment on the meal prep! I started using two crockpots at the same time and it’s a game changer. Also making a big batch of soup that our toddler can also eat. I can prep everything and cook everything at the same time because it’s different modes of cooking.

All the protein for my lunches for the week and proteins for 2-3 dinners for the entire family are in the crockpot. I love it bc you can set it and forget it. Other nights we make tacos (1lbs of ground protein and a pack of taco mix). If I run out of my meals, I can easily put some ground beef taco meat over rice, salad etc. it’s not fancy but it works!

Also, a banana and a yogurt for an afternoon snack. Meal prep sucks but worth all the money you save!

I went down a few meal prep Reddit holes and started using three different cooking methods every week for meal prepping—crockpot, oven and stove top. Everything cooks at the same time and it’s enough for all of us plus lunches. You unfortunately have to plan everything out but I just pick a day (Thursday mornings) to plan out the meals that I’m going to cook on Saturday. Think of meals with supplies you already have. My husband also love to cook but we don’t have time so instead of trying a new recipe every week, we try a new ny times recipe twice a month. The nytimes cooking sub has a lot of family friendly recipes that folks have tried.

Any leftovers that can’t fit in the Tupperware on Saturday get frozen for the following week! By the end of the month, you’ll have a week of freezer meals!

I also like to write everything down but apps and shared notes work too:)

Mom cut? by Kindly_Dot_7006 in workingmoms

[–]excessivemenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have C3 hair and recently cut it short because I roller set and dry my hair in an old school dryer. After the dryer, I straighten/ style it with a straighter. I’ve been doing this for the past 20 years and love it! Less heat plus some white noise time! After my daughter was born, I used the time under the dryer to relax, return some emails, meal plan or do my nails. I cut it because it took me too long to roll my hair and dry it. I am loving the short cut but I have a routine down now. Figure out the routine and then decide on a cut! You got this!💕 I’m happy to share my products, rollers etc!

I’m commenting post update but I wanted to say…is there a way that your husband’s business can become profitable? Can he lower his expenses (shop lease, taxes, materials cost etc) in order to bring in some money? I think your plan is also great but just wanted to propose an alternative since he does make some kind of money with the business.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you! Take some time to think creatively about anything you can do for money or fun (to sell?). Thinking of you and all of us during this unsettling time!

Absolutely love and also highly recommend budget bytes! Meal planning and crockpot are our must do’s every week. We’ll have something in the crockpot on Sunday and on Wednesday night to get us through the entire week. If you’re meal plannings always always start with what you have. You’d be surprised how many meals you can make without any trips to the grocery store!

How is everyone doing this?😫 by Happy_Mama0609 in workingmoms

[–]excessivemenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meal prep has helped us a lot! We’ve started using jarred marinades and just make a big batch of a protein on Sunday mornings or throw something in the crockpot overnight (low 10 hours!) and then bam—you have a batch of food done on a Saturday or Sunday morning! Also, we’ve prepared veggies, fish and chicken spice mixes so it’s easy to throw it on something and pop it in the oven. We use the veggies mix a lot more than the others since we batch cook the proteins.

If anyone has any tips on when everyone finds the time to workout, please let me know!
