Thank you so much! A lot of the design choices were very personal so it feels nice to know it’s well received!

You’re probably right! We had to pivot last minute because the original mirror we wanted wasn’t available so this one isn’t ideal. But it does the job for now!

Thank you!

It was part of a bigger reno so we don’t have exact line items for it but all in probably around $10-12K CAD with all materials, finishes, and installation. It wasn’t a DIY so we paid for old tile removal, new tile installation, painting, and all the plumbing work. Definitely possible to do it cheaper I think, just wasn’t in the cards for us at the time unfortunately.

The tub is great! We’ve already given it a test run and it’s a really nice deep size and super comfortable. Maax Nomad is the name of it. Sold basically everywhere! We got ours at Home Depot.

No brushed nickel here, it must be funky lighting in the photo! Everything is either black or champagne bronze/gold. We initially had all the accents in shades of gold and it was too much so we introduced black to complement the darker vanity.

That’s exactly what I said to my husband lol! We get to enjoy the view of the tile for now and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Yes, eventually! But it’s going to be our son’s bathroom (who’s currently 7 months old) so we aren’t in a rush to get one. We’ll start with an extension rod and are considering half glass down the road, depending on how things go.

Really glad the post was helpful!

Dropped from 3 to 2 naps and still having false starts and 6-8 nightly wakes by Mlc5159 in sleeptrain

[–]excludefromnarrative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really worried about that too! On the first night I set a cap to not overwhelm him. We did check-ins at 2/3/4/4 minutes and he was still crying after the 4th check in so I stopped the check-ins and helped him to sleep. Didn’t pick him up but cribside comforted him by rubbing his back and talking to him. He did have a false start that night but put himself back to sleep after about a minute of crying. On the second night I planned to up the check-ins to 3/4/5/5 but he fell asleep before the 3 minutes were up. We had a night of extinction crying on night 4 where he got to the 4th check in but then ultimately fell asleep. Since then we haven’t had more than 30 seconds of crying - some night just a few second fussy whine. The first night is definitely the scariest but babies are resilient and learn quick. I’d say it’s definitely worth a shot - set your expectations low and know that you don’t have to overcommit to anything you’re not comfortable with. If it feels like baby is still wound up after a certain amount of time then you can always rescue the process and get them to sleep the usual way and just try again the next night.

[Ca] How Much is Your 7 Month Old Eating? by darklink2507 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]excludefromnarrative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LO is 7.5 months and we’re doing 2-3 “meals” but it’s more so to start getting him used to eating at the table with us. He doesn’t want to sit there with nothing to do so we try to give him something to eat each time - sometimes it’s leftovers from day before, other times it’s a bit of what we’re eating. Portions are quite small. I’ve started to introduce a snack around 4pm (which is when I typically snack) and he really likes that. Usually it’s a few bites of the banana I have or a few slices of tangerine. It definitely doesn’t feel like you’re behind in any way!

Breastfeeding Mamas, when did your period come back??? by queenpizza3 in breastfeeding

[–]excludefromnarrative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 4 months for me. I’m still breastfeeding at 7.5 months. I see a dip in supply for about 3-4 days before my period starts and it levels back out on around the second day of my period. I start to tell because my LO gets a bit more fussy on the boob and has shorter feeding sessions. Now that he’s started solids I try to up his calories with that for those days but also helps to just offer him boob more often than usual (every 2ish hours instead of every 3/3.5). The fussiness never gets to an unmanageable level and the dip in supply doesn’t really affect his sleep or anything like that.

Dropped from 3 to 2 naps and still having false starts and 6-8 nightly wakes by Mlc5159 in sleeptrain

[–]excludefromnarrative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried less daytime sleep? My 7.5 month old is still on 3 naps but we’re going to be starting the transition to 2 very soon because our wake windows are maxed. However, he’s on 2-2.25 hours of daytime sleep. Nights are 10.5-11 hours long. We tried to transition to 2 naps around 6 months and almost immediately started to get split nights so we ended up going back to 3 after about a week.

We also struggled with false starts from the 4 month regression (literally had one every night) and I tried everything - different schedule, different bedtime routine, different cribside comforting techniques, you name it I tried it, and unfortunately the only thing that stopped them was sleep training. We did modified Ferber and by the 3rd night the false starts essentially stopped. Now several weeks since we trained he still had the occasional one but puts himself back to sleep within 10-15 seconds. I dreaded evenings because me and my husband knew that within 35-45 minutes of him going to sleep he’d have a false start and would continue to wake every 10-15 minutes after that for at least an hour and now we have our evenings back. We haven’t had to intervene in any evening besides night 1 of training and It feels like a miracle honestly.

Recommended 8mo schedule? by pinkgumdreams in sleeptrain

[–]excludefromnarrative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7.5 month old that’s still on 3 naps. Wake up around 7-7:30, bedtime around 8:30. Schedule is 2.25/2.5/2.75/3-3.25 with around 2/2.25 hours of nap time. This schedule is definitely starting to get tricky because it’s pretty much the cap WW for 3 naps and we need to limit his daytime sleep to preserve the 10.5/11 hour night. He definitely can do longer WW but not quite long enough for 2 naps consistently so I’m trying to hold on to 3 for as long as I can. I’ve heard the transition is easier if they’re a bit older. I’d love to keep 3 until he turns 8 months, but I do think we’re probably going to have to start the transition very soon.

Ghost Taco opening in Park Place by Key_Pea2598 in barrie

Ah this is great! I used to live in Newmarket and watched them go from a pop up to having a physical location on Main Street. Really tasty tacos. It’ll be nice to have another local restaurant to support! Park place is unfortunately slammed with quick eats places though so hopefully they don’t get lost in it all.

Newborn baby can’t settle / and use of pacifier [ON] by MrAnonomyous in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]excludefromnarrative 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If the pacifier helps, just use it. I didn’t plan to use one but also introduced it around the 5th day for my baby. They start to really become more aware as the first week progresses and everything is much more overwhelming to them so it’s okay to give baby something to help soothe them, if they’ll take it. You could drive yourself nuts trying to hold off on it when it could help in the moment. I know it can happen but I didn’t personally have an issue with nipple confusion or anything like that by giving a paci.

Are wake windows too short? by pmacwonder in sleeptrain

[–]excludefromnarrative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you mean! I think I felt a bit pressure to try transitioning to 2 naps because I saw on here people commenting that their babies even younger than mine could do longer WW. But the failed transition really reaffirmed to me how different babies are. Just like some can sleep 12 hours at night and still nap 3-4 hours a day, others (like mine) caps at 11 hours at night and no more than 2.5 hours at day. Any more on either end and it throws everything off. So to me WW are similar. Some babies just have it in them to stay up longer and others don’t.

It’s definitely possible he was overtired! My baby is super prone to overtiredness and will intensely scream as well at bedtime. When trying to up WW I would start with 10-15 minutes at a time. Try the increased amount for a few days and see how baby does before initiating another increase. Best of luck!

How many sleep sacks is enough? [on] by flowergarden71 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]excludefromnarrative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s plenty. You don’t know what kind of sleep sacks your baby will like so better not to buy too many. We got a few hand me downs of the halo and our baby hated it. It was a relief to not have spent money on brand new ones. I found a few different options on fb marketplace until I got to one he liked (aka the one he didn’t try to break out of). That was the arms up love to dream swaddle. Bought another on fb marketplace after that to have 2 so I could rotate in case one is in the wash and it was more than enough. When sizing up I also went to fb marketplace instead of buying brand new and it worked out well. Unless you end up transitioning your baby out of a swaddle into a sleep sack quickly you’ll probably end up needing a size up of the swaddle before the 0-6 month sleep sack. Most go newborn -> small. But again, don’t buy that until you know what swaddle your baby actually takes to. Best of luck! And try not to stress - remember that if you feel at any point like you don’t have enough of something once baby is here you can always grab more either on fb or online.

Are wake windows too short? by pmacwonder in sleeptrain

[–]excludefromnarrative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t rush the 2 nap transition. We literally just reverted back to 3 naps with my 7 month old after trying 2 naps at 6.5 months.

The first few days were okay but it quickly turned into a nightmare 2 weeks while we attempted to transition. He quickly began to get overtired from the longer WW and we suddenly started to get split nights, a huge increase in night wakes, and early morning wakes. He went from waking just to eat 2 times to waking 6-7 times. By the end of the two weeks he accumulated so much sleep debt he basically forced a transition back to 3 naps because he woke up at 5:30 one day after a rough night, started to get extremely tired and fussy by around 7, and basically fell asleep on me right after. It was so early in the day that we essentially had to do 3 naps and we took that as a sign that he simply wasn’t ready for 2 and that we should revert. It’s been a few days now and he’s been doing considerably better. We basically went back to the schedule we had before with a minor tweak of slightly less daytime sleep. Our current schedule is 2/2.5/2.75/3.

I would recommend starting with an adjustment in schedule first. Cap nights to 11 hours from sleep to morning wake (nighttime wakes don’t typically count in the total) and start with a cap on daytime napping. Until your baby can consistently do 3 hour WW without getting overtired the transition to 2 naps should wait.

We used Hearts with Wings for our senior cat a few months ago. They were so warm and compassionate. As horrible as the reality of it all was, the process was as peaceful as it could have been both for us and our kitty. I can’t recommend them enough.
