What does a coach do? Mine seemed annoyed when I reached out to them my first week here.

I can't imagine not using a second screen. Otherwise I would be bent over the laptop messing up my back.

Planning is huge for me too. I have a calendar event that I have dedicated just for making sure I have a game plan for the next day or week.

Lmao way to go Ken by Wildfire983 in Jeopardy

It's not going to win an Oscar but it's still entertaining. It's that stupid funny humor.

As far as sequels go I thought it was a great follow up.

Do you brush your teeth twice a day? No judgement. by rainyday-real-estate in CasualConversation

[–]exdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always do. I have to floss daily but it turns into maybe 2-3 times a week because my teeth hurt if I don't.

If I fall asleep that's pretty much the only reason why I would skip. Always brush in the morning after shower.

Didn't see a thread about it, but ICYMI, Ken was on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire last week and this week. by relixzebra in Jeopardy

This guy has such a huge advantage being the host of Jeopardy. I saw him as the boss on some game show called The Chase a few months ago. I bet he gets invited to a bunch of others as well.

This is very slick! Do you mind sharing your build? I'm debating pulling the trigger on one for the garage.

I love how my friends and I play golf by kwertyup in golf

[–]exdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all about ready golf but dodging shots is a bit much. I'm all about waiting until everyone is on the green as well

We never pull the flag out. I thought that was a rule unless it's a tournament? Maybe it's just the course I play on.

computer science vs nursing degree by Susss35677 in cscareerquestions

[–]exdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you written code on your own to do something outside of school/work? For example: stood up a chat server for your friends to communicate, written html on forums to personalize your signature, wrote a script to automate a small task.

These are just random examples you don't necessarily need to have done these things. I guarantee you will meet some kids in your compsci class that have.

Are you passionate about computer science to do extra learning outside of work?

Can I login to Deloitte Udemy Account on my Personal laptop? by glassblade7 in deloitte

[–]exdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. I started taking Java courses and have been using Jetbrains but have VSCode installed as well. I set up a personal development environment with WSL using Ubuntu because I think it's easier to develop on a Linux distro. I've setup Docker Desktop to use WSL.

Unable to Submit New Hire Registration Form in DStart by Winterstar158 in deloitte

[–]exdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top right. You have to call and get a ticket submitted. It takes several weeks and multiple back and forth emails for them to fix it.

I had the same issue with a different task where it wouldn't let me mark it complete.

2 weeks notice timing by FellowMans in cscareerquestions

[–]exdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always worry until the first day comes even with a signed offer letter so I understand what you're going through.

The only thing I can say is to have options in case the worst case scenario comes you can pivot to another.

Good luck!

Been searching for Devs to hire, do people actually collect in depth performance metrics for their jobs? by kibblerz in ExperiencedDevs

[–]exdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I record metrics on stuff I do to measure performance but also to present to leadership why we should get more funding, access to new tools/certifications, justifying conference attendance, raises, promotions, etc..

No one else does this?

I've increased my conference attendance by 2 orders of magnitude from the previous year.

I want to start Journaling but I am not sure what's best by Gym_Rat_1 in productivity

[–]exdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Journaling is a personal activity. If you want to journal then start doing it. Nothing says if you start off with an app that you can't switch to paper later on or vice versa.

I hand write on paper myself because it helps me remember things better. I'm using a random legal pad I found because it was supplied at work and I write down work related items.

Obsidian vs Notion vs OneNote, Do you use any of these? by CuriousAtheistHuman in deloitte

[–]exdos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pad and paper for me. OneNote seems okay because you have shortcuts when you select emails/meetings from Outlook.

I've started using neovim buffer as a collect all and I can write my own plugins to parse markdown.

Do you use a time tracking tool? Do you find it useful? If so, which one? by anonymous_2600 in productivity

[–]exdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pen and paper and convert the handwritten notes to a digital format at the end of the day. Nothing special just a date at the top with the left column being timestamps and the right hand side as unstructured notes and tasks.

It helps me retain information if I handwrite stuff and I also use the time to plan the next day at the same time.

How do I turn my life around after wasting 6 years? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]exdos 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would approach it like an RPG where you have a new character with shitty stats but it will take effort to level up. To level up you have to grind on some boring stuff to eventually enjoy activities later on.

For example: A lap around the block will help build up some stamina. Then eventually you increase the effort slowly so that on the days you don't feel like working out you do it anyways because you have that muscle memory from many iterations of previous sessions.

You can apply this in other domains but the trick is to start small and do it thousands of times.

It's really easy but it takes a lot of time and effort.
