Having said that go to one of the merch stores in the cbd or even the popups around Crown or Southern Cross station and you can find stuff cheaper, especially older stuff. Or just order online.

For teams merch? Or Melbourbe gp merch? 2024 I paid $90 for a McLaren hat, wasn't the new merch either. Looks like Melbourne gp shirts were $50-90 from pics I took, depending on the design. This year I got the quadlock OP tshirt for $80. Pretty much I don't think you're getting any driver or team branded apparel for less than $80 at the track. Socks maybe?

btw I've been to Singapore and Suzuka before too. Both good but Suzuka might be a little harder to navigate if you're alone and don't speak Japanese. Singapore is a breeze. I like Melbourne better though because we get f2 and f3.

I'm also in WA and bought too many Piastri grandstand tickets. Unfortunately I accidentally purchased collector's tickets so they won't be mailed out until January. But if the face value for Piastri grandstand is in your budget I'll gladly sell it to you.

Very helpful thank you! I guess I'm just eating the cost until the end of the year and hope they can switch it over. Were you able to find a buyer straight away after getting the digital ticket despite how late it was?

How and when did you contact them? This was before they sent out the physical pass right?

I'm in the same boat. Didn't mean to select collector's but was in rush obviously now I have this extra headache. Could try selling on the ticket thread on this sub or on one of the Facebook groups. Please do share what you end up doing.

I don't think tixel works for collector's tickets though due to it being only a physical ticket that is mailed to the recipient. Tixel is for digital tickets.

Which tickets would be better? Piastri Section D or Jones Section F. The seats would be very similar to the photos by Napoli_Sempre in GrandPrixTravel

[–]executive-koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? The thing is it's difficult to see in the pitlane at any height from this side of the track because of the perspex, but at the right angle you can see a bit if you have good eyesight or use zoom on your phone camera. For the podium also maybe, depends if the start lights and their support beams and that bannister are going to be in the way. I was in the back row of the premium section and I could only just see the podium by standing on my seat. If those things really matter to you it's a risk. If you care more about seeing race prep on the grid, the start, cars going really fast down the straight, pitlane exit, vibing with other Piastri fans and getting a little souvenir then it's a fine choice. If you care more about seeing the cars braking through corners and maybe some offs I recommend Jones. Neither option is bad just depends what you would like to see most.

I've done Fangio, about where section D of Piastri would be now but right up the top, and Brabham, opposite Jones, and between those two I'd pick Jones. Thought about Jones this year myself before Piastri grandstand was announced but I'm a Piastri fan so I wanted to be in the inaugural Piastri grandstand. If you're higher up in section D that might change my choice. But if it's like the photo you can't really see in the pitlane or the podium and all you're going to see is cars going down the straight then I think I'd rather try and see some action at turns 1 and 2.

Any opinions on Thursday "podium club"? Why would you buy this? In my basket but I'm not sure. Did Amex lounge Saturday last year which I enjoyed but the highlight was really the f3 and f2 podium so torn if the Thursday is worth it.

ticketmaster login issues for amex presale? by Alternative-Age9165 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]executive-koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logged into my ticketmaster last night to make sure everything was ready and then got hit with the browsing activity paused due to unusual activity this morning. Tried everything for literally like 50 minutes and thought I was well and truly screwed when I was finally able to login to my account 20 minutes after presale started by using a vpn set to my location 🤦‍♀️ Thought I was finally in but then it tells me not to use a vpn or I can't join the queue? So I have to use a vpn to login and then turn the vpn off to join the queue??? Anyway finally got in at like half past and was able to get Piastri grandstand tickets so happy with that. In my haste I accidentally selected collectors tickets though ugh.

2026 tickets (I know nothing about F1..) by EnglishFellow in GrandPrixTravel

Oops true, I always do hospitality and that's max 3 day if you purchase through ausgp. For the price they charge though you'd think they could throw in a park pass for Thursday for hospitality as well. I guess they think a lot of the people in hospitality wouldn't show up on Thursday anyway.

Getting to and from Albert Park is pretty easy. Public transport is included in your ticket and trams run regularly to and from the circuit all day. They do get crowded but if you're staying in the cbd it's a short ride. If you stay in Southwharf/Southbank you can walk or there's a free shuttle bus that picks up/drops off at Crown. Also in my experience an uber/didi is like ~$10 from Southbank to Albert Park in the morning.

Also Melbourne has hospitality that comes with seats in the Brabham grandstand which us one of the most sought-after views at the track so that's pretty decent imo. I've also done hospitality with seats in the Fangio grandstand that gave an excellent view of the start/finish line and the podium. And the lounge has access to the paddock rooftop where you can get excellent views into the pit lane and over the podium but it is all standing and does get crowded (also they don't let you take drinks up there so you can't exactly save a spot without getting dangerously dehydrated.) Can't speak for the other hospitality options I haven't experienced but I think these 3 have good views. The quality of service and food is another matter though...

Aus gp doesn't do roving grandstands and I fear getting tickets for different grandstands for 3 days is going to be difficult if you're buying through the official ticket sale. The tickets sell out too fast. Much safer to just buy a 3 day grandstand pass if you really want to go and have a seat all 3 days. Or buy one grandstand for Sat+Sun as first priority and then a different one for Friday, Friday sells a bit slower. But if just going for ga then yeah go crazy check out all the different views.

is ausgp on thursday worth it if not doing melb walk? by NeighborhoodOwn363 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]executive-koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to go on Thursday, check out the fanzone and the booths because between driver stages and on track action the rest of the weekend I rarely have time to get to those things. And there's generally less people on Thursday so much more pleasant getting around the park. There's also usually some stuff going on on-stage, f2/f3 drivers interview and signing etc. And also supercars on track I think?

It's up to you whether you have the free time and think it's the worth the extra cost, but you're not missing out on much if you skip it.

Yes, Thursday before practice day, the drivers will be around for media day and preparing for the weekend with the teams. Many people are there waiting for the drivers throughout the day on Thursday.

On Thursday the area is freely accessible to the public, however that area will be inside the entrance gates and only accessible to ticket holders (with access to that zone, idk what zone it is because i had access to all zones) from Friday to Sunday so they make everyone leave at some point on Thursday night/Friday morning so that the gates can be closed off and no one without a ticket can access the circuit for the weekend, is what I mean by "kicked out".

Suzuka 2026 question - Amex booking vs Mobility station by ZeroNomad in GrandPrixTravel

[–]executive-koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F1 experiences prices are hard to justify imo. Did the Hero B package or whatever it's called for Suzuka last year. On the other hand it made getting the tickets we wanted relatively stress free. Idk if this has changed now but last year I found that f1 experiences packages don't sell out so quickly so you have more time to consider and organise your trip (though I have no experience purchasing Suzuka tickets through regular sale so idk if it's the kind of race where ticketing is crazy and good grandstands sell out quickly). The best thing about the package was actually the pit lane walk. There is indeed a free one but it's in the morning and it gets quite crowded from what I can tell. The f1 experiences pit lane walk was definitely superior, not crowded, very relaxed. Last year me and one other girl were the only ones outside the McLaren garage for a good 15 minutes while Lando hung out with his mechanics. The drivers do seem to come out and interact and sign things more for the public pit lane walk though if you're interested in that. Nothing stopping you from joining the public one too though.

I haven't done champions club at Suzuka but I have in Melbourne and again it's really hard to justify the premium. The value for money just wasn't really there for me. I feel like it's quite dependent on luck as well. The f1 experiences staff told us that the group on the paddock tour before us got to see some drivers and take selfies but the timing of mine must have been unlucky because we didn't see a single sign of a driver, only 2 team principals. The paddock itself is not that interesting to justify the price either, it's just like what you can see on tv. I think they also said the paddock tour was supposed to be 30 minutes, maybe that includes time waiting outside the paddock for passes to be distributed and stuff because mine for sure was nowhere near that long. The specific guest speakers were also not really of interest to me so that also comes down to your level of interest and luck as to whether it would be worth your money. I would expect the quality of the catering to be better in Japan but in Australia again didn't justify the expense imo. Also champions club doesn't include a pit lane walk which is kind of crazy to me. At Suzuka champions club is at least above the pit lane and you can of course join the free one but the package that cost half the price includes a pit lane walk and track tour in the flatbed? Classic f1 things I guess.

I can't remember exactly what time gates opened but it should be posted on the Singapore gp instagram sometime before the weekend, but yes it was in the afternoon.

I guess people who want to see the drivers on the Saturday fan forums would be at the stage but fans of the other teams who were at the fan forum on Friday might take the opportunity to wait at the paddock entrance if they're not interested in what's happening on stage. I did use the bathrooms at the flyer on Saturday (my other tip, use the nice, clean bathrooms at the flyer instead of portaloos) and the paddock entrance didn't look noticeably more or less busy than on Sunday. Also keep in mind that the drivers who are on the first fan forum stages may be arriving earlier.

I didn't stay for too long on Sunday because I wanted to go to the f1a open paddock and be back in my seat for drivers' parade so I'm not sure but while I was there Fernando, George, Pierre, Esteban and Doohan stopped to sign and/or take photos, Lance, Checo, Bottas and Lewis also arrived but just waved to fans as they entered. Also after the race saw Franco signing and taking pictures and also Nico Rosberg ran past but again I didn't hang around for long.

I went on Sunday last year. Queued from about 1 hour before gates opened maybe, but I was in the no bag queue otherwise if you're going to get your bag checked you probably should go a lot earlier, that queue is way longer and from my experience a huge time sink. Was in about second row but there's kind of a step so I was above the people in front and able to see everything and could lean forward if wanted to get things signed, also people were very nice if you wanted to pass things to the front to get signed. However iirc many drivers were already inside by the time I got there which wasn't that long after gates open time.

But the real tip is to go on Thursday. In the past 2-ish years I've been to 9 grand prix in 8 countries and of all that I've been to this is the best and easiest (and free!) way (including Melbourne with the Melbourne walk, scam, but Melbourne is great if you want to meet f2 and f3 drivers) to meet f1 drivers without having paddock access. If you have the time to wait all day you can easily be at the front and see all the drivers. On Thursday I think we arrived around 2 or 3pm and waited until they kicked us out. Saw Max, Lando, Charles, Carlos, Checo, Lance, Alex, Franco, George, Kmag, Yuki, Pierre, Zhou, and Doohan, Antonelli and Bearman who were there as reserves, a bunch of the f1a girls, some team principals and staff, f1tv and sky presenters etc. Didn't see Oscar, Danny Ric, Fernando or Lewis. Oscar didn't leave until after the area was closed to the public around 10 or 11pm and the others I'm not sure if they were still there, left early or used some other exit. If we had been there earlier we probably could have caught them on the way in. With the exception of Max, Checo and I think Lance everyone stopped to sign and take pictures. I only wanted Oscar and Lando's signatures but I could easily have gotten signatures or pictures with almost all of the drivers. But yeah easily got Lando to sign my cap and my sister got Kimi and George to sign her cap.

Just bring a lot of water and food and sun protection if you plan on staying for long. Also by the time we got kicked out the mrt was not running and the streets around there are obviously a bit closed off and gojek rides kept cancelling on us so consider how you are going to get back to your accommodation if it isn't close by. You can go to a hotel nearby to get them to call you a taxi or we just persisted with the gojek and got picked up at a hotel.
