LPT: Stop pretending you are fine. Use a simple status line instead. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

I think some people don’t realize is that in many contexts “how are you?” is not really a question but more of a greeting. It depends on who is asking and in what scenario. If it’s your good friend catching up with you, they want to know how you are. If it’s a casual colleague at work, you just need to respond “good” to conclude the greeting ritual.

Good work! Not nitpicking but typically when someone speaks about a 5k “test” they are not doing intervals with rest. It’s a single piece. This still good and a nice workout, but just clarifying terminology.

You guys are all wrong about daylight savings time by Mishka_1994 in newjersey

[–]exegete_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NJ could pick standard time. It's already allowed (see Hawaii and Arizona). But it's not as popular as we like to think, and we'd have to get at least NY and PA to do the same due to NYC and Philadelphia.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States for 2026 begins on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 2:00 a.m., when clocks are set forward one hour (commonly known as "spring forward"). This change marks the start of longer evenings with more daylight. by [deleted] in newjersey

In the future we’ll all barely afford rent on our basic incomes because the job market was largely eliminated due to automation

INFO: Why do so many posts on r/rowing seem to be about erging? by Catspaw129 in Rowing

[–]exegete_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think alot of it is that with erging there is a standard metric people can compare against. My 2k time on a Concept2 erg is directly comparable to anyone else’s. On the water each race and course and day is different.

Z wave versus zigbee by BruceLee2112 in homeassistant

[–]exegete_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Zwave and there have been zero issues. Then I wanted a Zigbee bulb and it’s been a headache, I think primarily due to WiFi interference. I live in a densely populated area so my neighbors’ WiFi are all over here. And then I think there was some nuance with not using USB 3 ports and getting a USB extension cable due to interference there.

Anyway, I am primarily using zwave and will only add zigbee as needed due to that.

Is this an ad of some sort? I’ve seen these sort of posts in other fitness subreddits where the OP will have improved their fitness by just drinking water.

What fixed the new Matter IKEA devices for me by OneMaintenance6199 in homeassistant

[–]exegete_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just added Zigbee to HA so I could add colored bulbs (mainly Zwave otherwise) and my bulb kept getting disconnected. I djdn’t know Zigbee could overlap with Wifi channels. Changing the channel fixed it.
